PFLP Nov. 18 Statement and Call for War Crime Trials

This English translation of a November 18, 2023 PFLP statement originally appeared on the Resistance News Network Telegram, and is archived by the Red Clarion in its unedited form. This statement specifically calls for war crimes trials based on Article Seven (Crimes Against Humanity) of the International Criminal Court’s Rome Statute.

The genocidal war against our people continues with full partnership from America, the West, and the reactionary official Arab regimes.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine confirms that the criminal, hateful zionist enemy is escalating its massacres and genocidal war against the Palestinian people, with full partnership from the United States of America, the West, and the reactionary official Arab regimes. This targets the Palestinian existence, the liquidation of the Palestinian cause, and the passage of the displacement project.

The Front states: “It has become clear that the cowardly zionist enemy is intensifying its aggression against our people, committing dozens of massacres in recent hours in Gaza and the West Bank. The latest of these included a large number of martyrs in a series of significant massacres targeting schools housing displaced people in the Tel Zaatar area north of the Strip and Al-Fallah School in Gaza City, random artillery shelling in the Sabra neighborhood, targeting residential apartments in Khan Younis, launching hundreds of raids across the Strip areas with a focus on North Gaza, targeting a building in Balata Camp with martyrs, and continuing to target hospitals and requesting the evacuation of Al-Shifa compound. All these indicate a plan to push our people and their resistance to surrender, to forcibly displace our people from their land, and to create a new reality that paves the way for the occupation to implement its vision in resolving the conflict and liquidating the issue, with clear American and Western partnership in this ongoing crime, amidst conformity from some reactionary official Arab regimes.”

The Front clarifies that what is happening on the ground is a complete and systematic war of genocide targeting the Palestinian people, their existence, and their land. The American administration and the West sought to market it as a war against so-called “terrorism” to legitimize these crimes and justify the horrific massacres committed against our people.

The Front condemns the faltering positions of the reactionary official Arab regimes that prevented responsible and serious decisions to stop these massacres, and suppressed Arab masses who took to the streets rejecting the aggression; it is shameful that these Arabs shirk their responsibilities towards the genocidal war waged against our people, or even adopt decisions to break the siege and bring aid to our people facing killing and starvation.

The Front asserts the collapse of the Western system, international community institutions, and their lame values that hypocritically talk about freedom and human rights while clearly shirking their responsibilities towards stopping the zionist killing and destruction machine from committing massacres against the Palestinian people. Instead, they have merged and participated with the occupation in its sinister plans and objectives, questioning, “How will this Western system justify its silence and negligence in the face of the serious and unprecedented violations by this zionist entity, exceeding all imagination, and how can it remain silent on targeting hospitals, bombing them, storming them, and requesting their evacuation from medical staff and patients as is happening now in Al-Shifa compound? It is a complete war crime by the zionists and a stain on this Western system.”

The Front calls on the free people of the world to continue pressure through demonstrations and mass events in various squares and in front of zionist, American, Western embassies, and international institutions to stop the aggression and break the siege, and to pressure for the trial of the occupying leaders and the criminal American president Joe Biden as war criminals and to apply Article Seven of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Courts to condemn the genocidal operations carried out by the occupation leaders against the Palestinian people with direct American and Western partnership.

The Front concludes its statement by affirming that the Palestinian people will emerge stronger from this battle despite the massacres, displacement, killing, and starvation, and will continue the battle to confront the enemy and engage in a long war of attrition with it. This criminal enemy and its Western backers will not achieve any of their goals, and our people will overthrow any projects or ideas for post-war illusions in Gaza. Our people will deal with any international, Western, or Arab intruder forces in the sector as an occupying force.
