A form of capitalist state. The bourgeois republic emerged historically as the successor to feudal states in Europe, generally as the result of revolution caused by the buildup of contradictions. The bourgeois republic is generally typified by the appearance of democracy which masks a class dictatorship of the bourgeoisie.
