Cde. Peter, Deputy of USU Press affiliate Cincinatti Community Aid and Praxis (CCAP), describes what organizing really means and why it is vital for the workers’ movement.
We have long advocated the formation of primary organizations…. It is possible to “act” while at the same time studying.
We must therefore urge all organizers who read the Red Clarion against the kind of explosive, “my way or the highway,” responses to other organizations.
Only one thing will do: not to die, but to live; not to be held in jail, but to escape and be free; not to be a lone voice crying out, but to be the organizer of a vast chorus.
We must act now as Red Gardeners so that we may create an army of gardeners. We must raise up legions of shepherds and caretakers.
Who are our friends? Who are our enemies? These are questions that it is critical for us to answer in order to advance our movement.
This is the essence of the cult-form: in order to extract labor and money from its membership, commit abuses with impunity, and maintain absolute control over the money and labor lodged in the organization and its members, the leadership must maintain absolute control and block all avenues of accountability.
How can we build a party that can lead at the forefront of revolution but that is also resistant to opportunism, great-nation chauvinism, and the other forms of reaction?
