The argument for why one must support the Democratic Party takes various similar forms, one of the most popular being the argument for the “lesser evil.” You may commonly hear proponents of the “lesser evil” argument give the sympathetic appeal of “yes, this guy sucks, but the other guy is much worse.” This argument fails to contend with the question of how meaningfully different are the two major political parties from one another. It fails to understand in what ways the two parties are identical and in what ways every “Democratic” president has furthered if not championed the reactionary political objectives that “lesser evil”-ists claim are the main goals of the GOP.

An extremely popular variant of the “lesser evil” justification among left-liberals is the “vote against fascism” trend. They say we must vote for the Democrats because the Republicans are “literally” fascists who will curtail democratic rights, exact “totalitarian” control over the U.S. political sphere, and bring about a fascist state. In order to avoid this eventuality, we must vote for Gore/Clinton/Obama/Biden to save democracy from the scheming fascists.

This position is championed by left-liberals and so-called “socialist” organizations alike. While it accurately identifies the fascist nature of the Republican Party, it is purely coincidental due to the fact that it betrays a complete misunderstanding of fascism in the most basic sense.

It is merely a consequence of political circumstance and colonial/imperial rivalry that the U.S., the U.K., and the other allies fell on the opposite side of the battle lines from Nazi Germany and fascist Italy in the 1930’s and 40’s. Look no further than the utter enchantment of the American bourgeoisie by Hitler in the run-up to WWII or the direct collaboration by U.S. firms such as IBM, JPMorgan Chase, the Associated Press, General Motors, or Ford, summed up so eloquently by General George S. Patton when he remarked that “we’ve been fighting the wrong enemy (the Germans)” and that the US should have been fighting the communists all along. As a result of this ideological and political alignment with Nazi Germany, in the wake of WWII and the near global acknowledgement of the inherent evil of fascism, it became necessary for the U.S. to wash its hands of Nazism, make clear its opposition to fascism, and obfuscate its alignment with the fascists by putting forward a rigid, superficial, and non-materialist definition of fascism. What we’ve been taught by our education system and our popular media is that the outward form of Nazism is the definition of fascism, and anything that does not look or sound exactly like Nazism cannot possibly be fascism.

This superficial definition is very convenient for the U.S. ruling class in a few key ways. First, it allows the propagation of the narrative that the U.S. and the Allies “defeated” fascism in 1945, that the good guys won, and that all is well and good in the world. Secondly, it allows the ruling class to conflate fascism and socialism by pointing to political purges or the persecution of counter-revolutionaries in socialist countries as equivalent to the repressive acts of the Nazis. And thirdly, it allows the U.S. to obfuscate its historical connection to fascism and to hide the machinations of global fascism since 1945 from the public eye. This simplistic analysis of fascism states that this one specific form of fascism is the extent of fascism, and it ignores the economic function of fascism and its use as a historical tool of class power to fight against revolutionary change.

When socialists legitimize this definition, they effectively whitewash the history of fascism and its current day expressions.

What is fascism?

Fascists first achieved political power in Italy in 1922 with the appointment of Benito Mussolini to the position of Prime Minister, but it achieved primary historical relevance in the form of the National Socialist German Workers Party, a.k.a. the Nazi Party, which took power in 1933 with the appointment of Chancellor Adolf Hitler.

In both Germany and Italy, the fascist political movement found its roots in the persecution of Communists, as it was utilized as an indispensable tool of the bourgeois state to combat rising class consciousness during post-WWI economic instability. The Nazi Party in particular found its roots in the Freikorps, a collection of paramilitary militias which consisted in a large part of German WWI veterans, that were utilized by the Weimar Republic government to put down the Communist revolutionary movement in 1919, led by Rosa Luxembourg and Karl Liebknecht and their KPD.

History demonstrates the role of fascism as a tool to preserve capital in the face of political and economic unrest. Post-WWI Germany and Italy faced extreme economic hardship which naturally saw the formation of a strong socialist movement spurred on by the then-recent victory of the Bolsheviks in Russia in 1917. The fascists were first utilized by the bourgeois state to put down the progressive anti-capitalist forces to protect the existing capitalist order from the calls for revolution. Upon taking power, the fascists in both Germany and Italy continued this trend, not only furthering the persecution of Communists, but utilizing their newfound political power to shore up the broken economies.

As Michael Parenti points out in his book Black Shirts and Reds:

To maintain profit levels, the large landowners and industrialists would have to slash wages and raise prices. The state in turn would have to provide them with massive subsidies and tax exemptions. To finance this corporate welfarism, the populace would have to be taxed more heavily, and social services and welfare expenditures would have to be drastically cut…

But the government was not completely free to pursue this course. By 1921, many Italian workers and peasants were unionized and had their own political organizations. With demonstrations, strikes, boycotts, factory takeovers, and the forceable (sic) occupation of farmlands, they had won the right to organize, along with concessions in wages and work conditions.

To impose a full measure of austerity upon workers and peasants, the ruling economic interests would have to abolish the democratic rights that helped the masses defend their modest living standards. The solution was to smash their unions, political organizations, and civil liberties. Industrialists and big landowners wanted someone at the helm who could break the power of organized workers and farm laborers and impose a stern order on the masses. For this task, Benito Mussolini, armed with his gangs of Blackshirts, seemed the likely candidate.

What this reveals is the economic essence of fascism. Fascism is an order of austerity, a plundering of the public sectors by the private, taking away the menial social concessions from the working classes and enforcing the dictatorship of capital.

In early 20th century Europe, this took the form of the Italian National Fascist Party, the German Nazi Party, and the Francoist Nationalist Faction in Spain.

The final paragraph in the above-quoted section describes how the fascists at this time imposed their economic order. Jack-booted thugs, extrajudicial assassinations, secret police, and Heil Hitler’s were the measures necessary to achieve the economic goals of fascism in Western Europe in the 1920’s and 30’s. But they do not define fascism in their own right.

The Rise of Neoliberalism

In the 1960’s and 70’s the falling rate of profit and global economic downturn again threatened the rule of international capital. As a result, researchers at the University of Chicago devised a new economic order known today as neoliberalism. Neoliberalism saw its entrance into the global political and economic spheres with the administrations of Reagan in the U.S. and Thatcher in the U.K. in 1980.

What neoliberalism aimed to do was devise new methods for the generation of profit. To this end, the new neoliberal regimes gutted public funds and social services, smashed organized labor — epitomized by the brutal crushing of the Miners Strike by Thatcher in 1985 — and imposed a ruthless austerity regime.

There is a reason that the outwardly fascist Pinochet government in Chile served as the Chicago Boys’ laboratory for neoliberal economic policy. The economic aims of fascism and neoliberalism are identical. Neoliberalism is merely the perfected form of fascism, capable of disguising its austerity regime behind a veneer of liberal democratic reform.

As Parenti again puts it, neoliberalism was able to “achieve fascism’s class goals within the confines of quasi-democratic forms: use an upbeat, Reaganesque optimism; replace the jack-booted militarists with media-hyped crowd pleasers; convince the people that the government is the enemy — especially the public service sector — while strengthening the repressive capacities of the state; instigate racist hostility and antagonisms between the resident population and immigrants; preach the mythical virtues of the free market; and pursue tax and spending measures that redistribute income upward.”

Here we can see how the ruling class ingeniously achieved the implementation of fascism without the overt political structure that was necessary for fascist organization in early 20th century Europe. Here we can see how the essence of fascism, the economic arrangement of fascism, has been effectively operating in the U.S. for the last 44 years.

Fascism and Colonialism

If, perhaps, you are not convinced, and you believe that a definition of fascism must include the same overt repressive elements of its superstructure, let us turn to the definition from Aimé Césaire, who, in his essay “Discourse on Colonialism” argues that fascism is merely an extension of colonial policy. In essence, the barbaric and violent rule of European fascism in the form of Nazism is a reflection of the rule of the colonialists over their territories.

It is easy to see the merits of this argument. After all, the dictatorial “totalitarian” rule of the colonizers complete with extrajudicial killings, crushing of organized labor in the form of national rebellion, and the denial of democratic rights to the Indigenous is almost indistinguishable from the violent state practices of European fascism. Indeed, when we analyze the systematic genocide of those deemed “undesirable” during the Holocaust, we can directly trace the origins of those practices to the genocide of the Herero and Nama peoples in the German colonial territories in South West Africa (present day Namibia) between 1904 and 1908.

In the book Hitler’s American Model, James Whitman shows in great detail how Hitler pulled much of his inspiration for racist, genocidal practices in Germany from colonial practice in America. He argues that Lebensraum was directly inspired by the American settler ideology of Manifest Destiny, and notes that Hitler literally calls out practices of racial segregation in the U.S. in Mein Kampf as admirable practices that he wanted to, and did, impose in Germany.

When we acknowledge the colonial legacy of Nazism and fascist political policy, we can begin to analyze the curious case of settler colonialism. In a settler colonial society, the colonial practices are already turned inward from the outset. Genocide, extrajudicial murder, racial stratification of society, state violence used to curtail the democratic rights of “undesirables”, all of these are things that one may argue are characteristic of fascist political formation, and indeed, all of these things have been true about the United States since it declared independence in 1776. In this way, it can be argued that not only is the U.S. still fascist today, it has been quintessentially fascist since the day it was established, albeit in various stages of development.

Over the past several months, The Red Clarion has published a number of articles detailing the continuation of the colonial legacy and the overt fascist practices of the U.S. government: SCOTUS Vision: Debtors’ Prison, Abbott’s Stormtroopers Beat a Man to Death in Texas, Police Murder Reminds Us of Their True Purpose, Fascist Court Strips Right to Protest, No Free Speech About Palestine, Kansas Police Kill Newspaper Owner, SCOTUS Denies Navajo Nation Water, Haaland V. Brackeen, and many others.

Here we can see that those jack-booted thugs that liberals say must accompany any implementation of actually-existing fascism are already here. The CIA and the FBI have been committing extrajudicial assassinations and murder since their inception. Armed state military forces in the form of DHS round up non-white immigrants at the border and imprison them in concentration camps. Unmarked vans drive around in the middle of the night and disappear protestors off the street. Communist and anarchist actors are labeled domestic terrorists and political dissidents such as Kevin Rashid Johnson and Jalil Muntaqim and Assata Shakur are already prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

And all of this done under the careful direction of the political establishment, regardless of party affiliation. 

A key element of the social expression of fascism is scapegoat-ism and the instigation of racial hostilities. Fascism is able to inspire collaboration of the various classes of capitalist society and orient them away from the state and the economic base by pinning the ills of society upon a “subhuman” class of undesirables, typically described as having some inherent criminal element. In Nazi Germany, it was the Jewish people, the Roma people, and those deemed socially or politically deviant, such as LGBT people and Communists. In the U.S., it is easy to see this very same pattern, fomented by the political and media class, and not just elements of those we would typically consider “right wingers”. Never forget that Hillary Clinton justified the expansion of the prison system with her description of Black teens as “superpredators” in the 90’s or that the immigrant detention centers were largely established under the Obama administration.

Any way you want to spin it, there is no denying that fascism already exists in America, making the drive to fall in behind Joe Biden and vote out fascism in November completely nonsensical. Biden and Trump are both fascists of the same variety, one just has a greater degree of deniability. 

Can You Vote Out Fascism?

Let us, for the sake of argument, ignore everything written in this essay up to this point. Let us say that the Democratic Party are not fascists, that fascism is not already here, and that the GOP does constitute the threat to democracy that “lesser evil”-ists are so concerned with. Can you beat fascism at the ballot?

In 1922, the Italian Blackshirts marched on Rome and occupied various government buildings to demand the resignation of the liberal Prime Minister Luigi Facta. When the king refused to enact martial law to quash the rebellion, Facta resigned and Mussolini was appointed prime minister, bringing the National Fascist Party into power. In 1932, a presidential election was held in Germany with the three front-running candidates consisting of independent Paul von Hindenburg, Adolf Hitler of the Nazi Party, and Ernst Thälman of the Communist Party. The election went overwhelmingly in the favor of Hindenburg, who was elected president with 53% of the vote. In 1933, after the failure of parliament to establish a majority government, Hindenburg appointed Hitler to the office of the chancellor, bringing the Nazi Party into power for the first time.

What do these historical examples show us? They show us that traditional fascist dictators do not need to rely on democratic processes to take power. When conditions are right for them to take power, they do so, with no regard to whatever elections established the current political order. In the case of Germany, the German populace literally did vote against fascism, choosing instead to elect Hindenburg as president, however, not only did it fail to stop fascism’s rise, the outcome of the election directly led to the appointment of Hitler as chancellor of the German state.

So often accompanying the “lesser evil” discourse is the attempt to guilt trip skeptics into voting for the Democrats through the assertion that not voting or, god forbid, voting third-party is tantamount to siding with the fascists. But this is as nonsensical as claiming that Thälman is in part responsible for the rise of the Nazis because he took votes away from Hindenburg.

What is most lacking from the drive to “vote out fascism” is a historical, class-based perspective. Ultimately, Hitler does not fascism make. Fascism is not a single individual, and preventing an individual from achieving a certain political status will do little to stem the rise of fascist power if such a political movement is truly in motion. Fascism is a historical force, and traditional Nazi-esque fascists are utterly unconcerned with democratic processes. They will take power whether you vote for them, against them, or not at all.

Presenting an Alternative

In the months leading up to this election, the Democratic Party has been experiencing a crisis of legitimacy due to the failures of the Biden administration to fight against reactionary policy and champion the progressive measures demanded by the people. Between the failure of the Biden administration to address the continued COVID-19 Pandemic, to enact critical environmental policy, to stop the overturning of Roe v. Wade, to stem the revocation of Trans rights nationwide, and most critically, to stop supporting the genocide in Palestine, people all over the country are beginning to see the bankruptcy of bourgeois electoralism. Following the presidential debate on June 27th, even the liberal media class has begun to publicly question the legitimacy of another Joe Biden presidency.

Crises such as this one are the opportunities for revolutionary alternatives to step into the void and make themselves known. Millions and millions of people are right now searching for an alternative to the naked bankruptcy of the U.S. political establishment. Now is the time for the socialist left to come together and present a political formation that clarifies its distinction from corrupt bourgeois electoralism and champions revolutionary change.

Instead, our “comrades” are asking us to support a Democratic presidential candidate that not even the talking heads on CNN are falling in behind, and justifying it with the nonsensical argument that our democracy is under threat and needs saving from fascism. This position betrays a fundamental misunderstanding of class politics. It serves only to hide the realities of existing American fascism and obfuscate to what extent our democratic rights have already been eroded (or were never granted in the first place). It refuses to ask the question of whose interests our “democracy” actually serves and fails to present a coherent strategy for change.

The insidiousness of the neoliberal form of fascism is its ability to disguise itself as bourgeois liberal democracy. When we fail to put forward a comprehensive analysis of fascism and acknowledge to what extent we are already embroiled in it, we aid the ruling class’ attempts to camouflage the machinations of the fascist regime. It is a thin veil and it is slipping. Let us not stand there and offer to fix it for them. We must tear it away and reveal the monstrous face of American fascism once and for all.

We must make clear to other Communists and disenfranchised and disaffected persons that fascism is already here and that participation in bourgeois elections is a distraction from revolutionary organizing. This is not to say that we must roll over for reactionaries or cape for the monsters in the GOP, but it is the starting point for the development and presentation of an alternative. It is the base upon which we can take up true, revolutionary, anti-fascist organizing and practical work. By understanding the connections between settler colonialism and fascism, fascism and neoliberalism, and nazism and Manifest Destiny, we can begin to develop a political position and a political formation capable of challenging each of these axes of oppression and changing the world for the better.

Let us internalize now the immortal words of Communist, Black Panther, and political prisoner George Jackson:

Settle your quarrels, come together, understand the reality of our situation, understand that fascism is already here, that people are already dying who could be saved, that generations more will die or live poor, butchered half-lives if you fail to act. Do what must be done, discover your humanity and your love in revolution. Pass on the torch. Join us, give up your life for the people.

The Front concluded its statement, affirming that the Arab masses are facing an important and pivotal test moment in which they must declare the beginning of a new era, through which they present a noble and responsible stance capable of leveraging the energies and capabilities of the Arab nation, and unleashing the Arab struggle reserve to explode in the face of zionist and Western presence in the region, and all negligent and complicit Arabs.

وختمت الجبهة بيانها، مؤكدةً أن الجماهير العربية أمام لحظة اختبار مهمة ومفصلية يجب أن تعلن خلالها بداية عهد جديد، تقدم من خلاله موقف مشرف ومسؤول قادر على استثمار طاقات وقدرات الأمة العربية، وإطلاق العنان للمخزون الكفاحي العربي للانفجار في وجه التواجد الصهيوني والغربي في المنطقة، وكل المتخاذلين والمتواطئين العرب.

There is no difference in essence and content between the positions of Biden and Netanyahu.

War criminal Biden’s renewal of support for the occupation and supplying it with weapons confirms that America is the one actually leading the genocide war.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine confirmed that war criminal Biden’s renewed emphasis on supporting “israel” and supplying it with weapons confirms that the American administration is actually leading the genocide war against our Palestinian people, and that the zionist entity is merely a criminal killing tool directed by decision from this criminal administration.

The Front emphasized that there is no difference in essence and content between the positions of war criminal Biden and those of war criminal Netanyahu, and that both positions cling to continuing the aggression on the Strip and not [implementing] the ceasefire in Gaza, and that the difference lies in some tactical matters on the ground, in light of the occupation’s failure to achieve any goal on the ground, which constitutes an embarrassment and pressure on Biden as his popularity declines, and the escalation of waves of anger in the American public opinion against him, and in the midst of the American and international desire and the official Arab regime to stop the ceasefire during Ramadan to avoid any major escalation in the region and the area that would turn on them.

The Front saw that the behavior of the American administration in the previous days and its suspicious movements, such as its announcement of establishing a floating sea port on the shores of the Gaza Strip that takes time to build, and its continuation in supplying the occupation with huge and unprecedented amounts of ammunition and weapons by air bridge non-stop as revealed by American media, does not indicate a change in the American stance from the war on the Strip. Rather it indicates insistence on prolonging the duration of the battle and besieging the Strip security and field under humanitarian justifications.

The American and zionist goals in eliminating the resistance, trying to empty the Palestinian lands of its residents, and getting rid of the security threat posed by the resistance factions are strategic goals shared by both parties.

The Front concluded its statement by affirming that all attempts of the American administration to protect the zionist entity and sponsor the genocide war will not achieve its goals and will be of no use in the face of the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and the fortitude of the valiant resistance capable of thwarting the goals of the aggression and the malicious schemes targeting our Palestinian people.

ورأت الجبهة أن سلوك الإدارة الأمريكية في الأيام السابقة وتحركاتها المشبوهة كإعلانها عن إقامة ميناء بحري عائم على سواحل قطاع غزة يستغرق وقتاً في بنائه، ومواصلتها تزويد الاحتلال بكميات هائلة وغير مسبوقة من الذخيرة والأسلحة بكميات بقطار جوي دون توقف حسب ما كشفته وسائل إعلام أمريكية لايشي بتغير في الموقف الأمريكي من الحرب على القطاع؛ بل إصرار على إطالة أمد المعركة ومحاصرة القطاع أمنياً وميدانياً تحت مبررات إنسانية؛ فالأهداف الأمريكية والصهيونية في القضاء على المقاومة، ومحاولة تفريغ الأراضي الفلسطينية من سكانها، والتخلص من التهديد الأمني الذي تُشكّله فصائل المقاومة هي أهداف استراتيجية مشتركة لكلا الطرفين.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine praised the double operation carried out by fighters at a site of the zionist army in the settlement of “Homesh” in the north of the occupied West Bank, which resulted in the fatal injury of many zionist soldiers, confirming that this operation is expected and comes in the context of our people’s right to resist the occupation, and to respond to the ongoing zionist genocide war in the [Gaza] Strip.

وأكدت الجبهة أن هذه العملية النوعية المنظمة جرى التخطيط لها بدقة واحترافية عالية، وأفشلت رهانات الاحتلال ومجرم الحرب غالانت على بقاء الضفة المحتلة هادئة، ووجهت رسائل بالرصاص والعبوات المتفجرة للعدو والمستوطنين أن مواقع العدو ومستعمراته ستبقى هدفاً مشروعاً لضربات المقاومة حتى دحر آخر جندي صهيوني عن أرضنا، كما أكدت على وحدة المقاومة في جميع جبهات القتال وأن لدى المقاومة في الضفة المزيد من العمليات التي ستفاجئ بها العدو الصهيوني.

The Popular Front warns of the American step to establish a temporary seaport on the coast of Gaza, describing it as suspicious and dubious.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine warned of the American move to establish a temporary seaport on the coast of Gaza for the transfer of aid to the Strip, affirming that it is a suspicious and dubious move that surpasses the goal of relieving our people and paves the way to implementing other malicious objectives, such as displacement schemes under humanitarian guises and various labels.

The Front considered the issuance of instructions by war criminal Biden to establish a temporary port on the coast of Gaza to transfer aid to the Strip as an attempt to cool American public opinion and as electoral propaganda, at a time when no real pressure was exerted to force the occupation to stop its war of starvation or its crimes against the Palestinian people or to facilitate the entry of convoys into the Strip.

This will be dealt with caution and suspicion, especially as we have seen in the behavior and positions of the American administration only steps hostile to our people and biased towards the zionist entity, and that attempts to portray this step as indicating disputes between the American administration and the zionist entity are not accurate. There is a joint zionist-American objective behind this aggression, and a full partnership in the war of genocide and starvation policy.

The Front questioned the American step to establish this seaport at a time when it could impose the introduction of aid on the occupation through other more effective means and force the opening of crossings, especially as there is a capability to provide aid via land route through international institutions, especially the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

The Front considered the occupation’s approval of establishing the American maritime pier in light of its refusal to allow aid through official crossings and land routes confirms the existence of malicious objectives behind this pier.

The Front emphasized that the alternative to these suspicious ideas is to press for an end to the aggression, the complete withdrawal of the occupation from the Strip, the return of all displaced persons to their areas and homes from which they were displaced, and the opening of all crossings for the introduction of aid without restriction or condition and distributing it to all areas, including the North and Gaza. Any steps beyond that are futile, suspicious, and hostile to our people.

The Front concluded its statement by affirming that the resistance will remain vigilant, will confront the suspicious American moves and any other moves that push our people towards migration or liquidation of the Palestinian cause or siege and starvation of our people, and that the American presence will be legitimate targets for the resistance.

حذرت الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين من الخطوة الأمريكية بإنشاء ميناء بحري مؤقت على سواحل غزة لنقل المساعدات إلى القطاع، مؤكدةً أنها خطوة مريبة ومشبوهة تتخطى هدف إغاثة شعبنا وتفتح الطريق إلى تنفيذ أهداف أخرى خبيثة كمخططات التهجير تحت مسميات إنسانية وعناوين مختلفة.

واعتبرت الجبهة أن إصدار مجرم الحرب بايدن تعليمات من أجل إنشاء ميناء مؤقت في ساحل غزة لنقل المساعدات إلى القطاع لمحاولة تبريد الرأي العام الأمريكي وكدعاية انتخابية في الوقت الذي لم يُمارس فيه ضغطاً حقيقياً لإجبار الاحتلال على وقف حرب التجويع أو جرائمه على الشعب الفلسطيني أو تسهيل دخول القوافل إلى القطاع، سيتم التعامل معها بحذر وشك، خصوصاً وأننا لم نجد في سلوك ومواقف الإدارة الأمريكية إلا الخطوات المعادية لشعبنا والمنحازة للكيان الصهيوني، وأن محاولات تصوير هذه الخطوة بوجود خلافات بين الإدارة الأمريكية والكيان الصهيوني ليست دقيقة، فهناك هدف صهيوني امريكي مشترك من هذا العدوان، وشراكة كاملة في حرب الإبادة وسياسة التجويع.

وتساءلت الجبهة عن الخطوة الأمريكية بإنشاء هذا الميناء البحري في الوقت الذي يمكنها فرض إدخال المساعدات على الاحتلال بوسائل أخرى أكثر نجاعة وفرض فتح المعابر، خصوصاً وأن هناك قدرة لتقديم المساعدات عبر الطريق البري عبر المؤسسات الدولية وخاصة وكالة غوث وتشغيل اللاجئين “الأونروا”.

واعتبرت الجبهة أن موافقة الاحتلال على إقامة الرصيف البحري الأمريكي في ظل رفضها دخول المساعدات عبر المعابر الرسمية والطرق البرية يؤكد وجود أهداف خبيثة وراء هذا الرصيف.

وشددت الجبهة أن البديل عن هذه الأفكار المشبوهة، هو بالضغط من أجل وقف العدوان وانسحاب الاحتلال بالكامل عن القطاع، وعودة جميع النازحين إلى مناطقهم وبيوتهم التي هجروا منها، وفتح جميع المعابر لإدخال المساعدات دون قيد أو شرط وتوزيعها على جميع المناطق بما فيها الشمال وغزة، وأي خطوات تتجاوز ذلك فهي عقيمة ومشبوهة ومعادية لشعبنا.

وختمت الجبهة بيانها مؤكدةً أن المقاومة ستظل عيونها يقظة، وستتصدى للتحركات الأمريكية المريبة وأي تحركات أخرى تدفع شعبنا للهجرة أو تصفية القضية الفلسطينية أو حصار شعبنا وتجويعه، وسيكون التواجد الأمريكي أهداف مشروعة للمقاومة.

The justifications [the occupation] presented for committing its massacre are lies that fool no one.

The occupation’s admission of committing the Flour Massacre confirms it is the most criminal and filthy army in the world.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine affirmed that the occupation army’s admission of committing the Flour Massacre at the Al-Nablusi roundabout is not strange for an army considered the most criminal, despicable, and filthy in the world, asserting that the justifications it provided for committing its horrific massacre against civilians are lies that fool no one.

This cowardly army has become accustomed to marketing false narratives to pass its crimes, covering itself with the American partnership and the absence of any international deterrent actions against it.

The Front clarified that media outlets, including the American newspaper The New York Times, known for its pro-occupation stances, have refuted the occupation army’s narratives about the Flour Massacre and revealed the occupation’s manipulation of the photos and videos it published about the massacre, attempting to shift the blame from itself and escape this crime.

The Front added that the occupation army’s perpetration of this massacre against unarmed and starving civilians, who pose no threat to the hiding occupation soldiers like mice inside their tanks and vehicles in the area, confirms that there is a premeditated intention to commit a massacre against civilians as part of its vengeful policies against our people and to expand the war of starvation against them, and to compensate for its human losses suffered in the battlefield. This is proven by its repeated targeting of hungry civilians and aid convoys.

The Front concluded its statement by affirming that our people will neither forget nor forgive this criminal zionist entity for these heinous massacres, and that the blood of the starving civilian martyrs will remain a curse haunting this defeated army and its cowardly leaders everywhere.

أكدت الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين أن اعتراف جيش الاحتلال بارتكابه مجزرة الطحين على دوار النابلسي ليس غريباً على جيش يُعتبر الأشد إجراماً وحقارة وقذارة في العالم، مؤكدةً أن التبريرات التي ساقها لارتكاب مجزرته المروعة بحق المدنيين أكاذيب لا تنطلي على أحد، فقد تعود هذا الجيش الجبان على تسويق روايات كاذبة لتمرير جرائمه، متغطياً بالشراكة الأمريكية وغياب أي إجراءات دولية رادعة له.

وأوضحت الجبهة أن وسائل إعلام ومن بينها صحيفة نيويورك تايمز الأمريكية المعروف بتوجهاتها المؤيدة للاحتلال قد دحضت روايات جيش الاحتلال عن مجزرة الطحين، وكشفت تلاعباً من الاحتلال في الصور والفيديوهات التي نشرها حول المجزرة والتي حاول فيها درء اللوم عن نفسه والهروب من هذه الجريمة.

وأضافت الجبهة أن ارتكاب جيش الاحتلال هذه المجزرة بحق مدنيين عزل وجوعى غير مسلحين ولا يشكلون خطراً على جنود الاحتلال المختبئين كالفئران داخل دباباتهم وآلياتهم في المنطقة يؤكد أن هناك نية مبيتة لارتكاب مجزرة بحق المدنيين في إطار سياساته الانتقامية بحق شعبنا وتوسيع حرب التجويع ضدهم، ولتعويض خسائره البشرية التي يتكبدها في الميدان، وما يثبت ذلك هو تكرار استهدافه للمدنيين الجوعى ولقوافل المساعدات.

What “Haaretz” revealed on the martyrdom of Palestinians from Gaza in military detention centers is a new zionist war crime.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine confirmed that what the zionist newspaper “Haaretz” revealed about the martyrdom of 27 Palestinians from the residents of Gaza in zionist military detention centers since the beginning of the war on Gaza marks a new zionist war crime added to the criminal record of the zionist entity.

The Front stressed that the zionist enemy, armed with American and Western partnership, international inaction, and the official Arab silence, continues to commit all forms of crimes against our people in the Strip, including the policy of abuse and torture against a large number of our people who were arrested from the Gaza Strip under inhumane and harsh conditions, leading to the martyrdom and injury of dozens, especially among the elderly and women, in addition to the deliberate concealment of the fate of some of these prisoners.

The Front calls on international institutions to document these zionist crimes and refer them to international courts as documented zionist evidence that strengthens the lawsuit filed against the zionist entity for committing genocide against the Palestinian people in the Strip, asserting that the International Red Cross shirked its responsibilities in following up on this file despite calls and demands for the necessity of pursuing this file, revealing these crimes, and knowing the fate of the detained prisoners.

The Front concluded its statement by affirming that the zionist enemy will pay a heavy price for committing these unprecedented atrocities, which are unparalleled in history. أكدت الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين أن ما كشفته صحيفة “هآرتس” الصهيونية عن استشهاد 27 فلسطينياً من سكان غزة في مراكز احتجاز عسكرية صهيونية منذ بداية الحرب على غزة جريمة حرب صهيونية جديدة تضاف إلى السجل الإجرامي للكيان الصهيوني.
وشددت الجبهة أن العدو الصهيوني متسلحاً بالشراكة الأمريكية والغربية والتقاعس الدولي والصمت الرسمي العربي يواصل ارتكاب كل أشكال الجرائم بحق أبناء شعبنا في القطاع، بما فيها ممارسة سياسة التنكيل والتعذيب بحق عدد كبير من أبناء شعبنا جرى اعتقالهم من قطاع غزة في ظروف غير إنسانية وقاسية، أدت إلى استشهاد وإصابة العشرات لا سيما من كبار السن والنساء، فضلاً عن الإخفاء المتعمد لمصير عدد من هؤلاء الأسرى. 
ودعت الجبهة المؤسسات الدولية إلى توثيق هذه الجرائم الصهيونية وإحالتها إلى المحاكم الدولية باعتبارها أدلة صهيونية موثقة تعزز من ملف الدعوى المرفوعة ضد الكيان الصهيوني بارتكابه حرب إبادة جماعية بحق الشعب الفلسطيني في القطاع، مؤكدةً أن مؤسسة الصليب الأحمر الدولية تهربت من مسؤولياتها في متابعة هذا الملف رغم النداءات والمطالبات بضرورة متابعة هذا الملف، والكشف عن هذه الجرائم، ومعرفة مصير الأسرى المحتجزين.

Airdrops of aid is an affront to human dignity and a media and political propaganda.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine confirmed that the aerial delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip is an affront to the dignity of the Palestinian citizen, who is subjected to a genocidal war and a systematic starvation war, especially in the governorates of Gaza and the North. It also aims to create widespread chaos in the Strip.

The Front added, “The airdrop operation is futile and cannot deliver aid to all the hungry and besieged citizens in all areas in a complete and equitable manner. It contributes to the consolidation of the occupation’s plans by separating the north of the Strip from its center and south and restricting the work of UNRWA. It also absolves the international community of its clear responsibilities and obligations to stop the genocidal war and break the siege imposed on the Strip, and to impose the opening of all crossings and the introduction of aid to the Strip without restrictions, especially to the areas of Gaza and the North.”

The Front emphasized that the US administration and some Western and Arab countries’ aerial operations on the Strip have media and political objectives to alleviate mass pressure and public outrage against these countries and to show them as keen on ending the suffering of the Gaza Strip and delivering aid to the citizens. It also diverts the world’s attention from the reality of the genocidal war and the horrific massacres being waged on the Gaza Strip.

The Front remarked, “Whoever takes permission from the occupation to conduct aerial operations on the Strip can obtain a permit to bring this aid, especially to the areas of Gaza and the North, through the official crossings and land routes, through which a large number of relief convoys can be introduced.”

The Front warned against any ideas proposed with the objective of creating a sea bridge to deliver relief aid to the Strip, asserting that they have dangerous goals that do not aim to end our people’s suffering and introduce aid but rather serve the occupation’s plans for displacement or consolidating a reality imposed by the occupation in the Strip. The priority now is to stop the genocidal war, break the siege, open all official crossings, and introduce all aid.

The Front called on the Arab masses and the free people of the world to raise their voices and continue the wide popular mobilization in capitals and cities, and besiege the premises of international institutions and embassies of aggression to pressure for the cessation of aggression, breaking the siege imposed on the Strip, and introducing all aid, especially to the North and Gaza.

أكدت الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين أن عمليات الإنزال الجوي للمساعدات على قطاع غزة فيها امتهان لكرامة المواطن الفلسطيني الذي يتعرض لحرب إبادة جماعية، وتمُارس ضده حرب تجويع ممنهجة خاصة في محافظتي غزة والشمال، كما تستهدف خلق فوضى عارمة في القطاع.

وأضافت الجبهة “أن عملية الإنزال الجوي نتائجها عقيمة ولا يمكن من خلالها إيصال المساعدات لجميع المواطنين الجوعى والمحاصرين في جميع المناطق وبصورة كلية ومتكافئة، وتساهم في تكريس مخططات الاحتلال بعملية فصل شمال القطاع عن وسطه وجنوبه وتقييد لعمل الأونروا، كما أنها تُحرر المجتمع الدولي من مسؤولياته والتزاماته الواضحة بضرورة وقف حرب الإبادة وكسر الحصار المفروض على القطاع، وفرض فتح جميع المعابر وإدخال المساعدات للقطاع دون قيد أو شرط لا سيما إلى مناطق غزة والشمال”.

وشددت الجبهة أن قيام الإدارة الأمريكية وبعض الدول الغربية والعربية بعمليات إنزال جوي على القطاع لها أهداف إعلامية وسياسية، لتخفيف الضغط الجماهيري وغضب الرأي العام على هذه الدول، وإظهارها بأنها حريصة على إنهاء معاناة قطاع غزة وإيصال المساعدات إلى المواطنين، كما أنها تحرف أنظار العالم على حقيقة حرب الإبادة والمجازر المروعة التي تُشن على قطاع غزة.
واستدركت الجبهة: ” مَنّ يأخذ إذن من الاحتلال للقيام بعمليات إنزال جوي على القطاع، يستطيع أن يأخذ تصريح بإدخال هذه المساعدات خاصة لمناطق غزة والشمال عبر المعابر الرسمية والطرق البرية، والتي يمكن من خلالها إدخال عدد كبير من القوافل الإغاثية”.

وحذرت الجبهة من أي أفكار مطروحة هدفها شق جسر بحري لإيصال المساعدات الاغاثية للقطاع، مؤكدةً أن لها أهداف خطيرة لا تستهدف إنهاء معاناة شعبنا وإدخال المساعدات، وإنما تصب في مخططات التهجير أو تكريس أمر واقع فرضه الاحتلال في القطاع، فالأولوية الآن لوقف حرب الإبادة، وكسر الحصار، وفتح جميع المعابر الرسمية وإدخال كل المساعدات.

ودعت الجبهة الجماهير العربية وأحرار العالم إلى إعلاء صوتها واستمرار التحشيد الشعبي الواسع في العواصم والمدن، ومحاصرة مقرات المؤسسات الدولية، وسفارات العدوان للضغط من أجل وقف العدوان وكسر الحصار المفروض على القطاع وإدخال كافة المساعدات لا سيما للشمال وغزة.

The incitement by the British right-wing and the zionists against fighter Leila Khaled is a failed attempt to silence the Palestinian resistant voice.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine confirmed that the incitement by The Times newspaper, known for its right-wing tendencies, as well as the zionists and zionist media against comrade fighter and leader in the Front, Leila Khaled, following her announcement of participation in a fundraising event organized by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign in Britain, is a failed attempt to silence the Palestinian resistant voice, and to abort any impacts of this participation on the British public, which is increasingly uncovering the atrocities and crimes of the zionist entity, and the reality of the official Western support for the genocide war waged by this colonial settler criminal entity against the Palestinian people.

The Front renewed its assertion that our people’s resistance is legitimate and guaranteed by international laws and norms, and that those who carried out the heroic operation on October 7th are fighters for freedom, and that fighter Leila Khaled is a symbol and an iconic figure of Palestinian struggle, representing our people’s shining image of struggle, and that her participation in solidarity activities with our people in the Gaza Strip is natural and comes within the national duty to expand the avenues of Western solidarity with the Palestinian cause, and to press more on the Western right and the official British authorities and other Western governments to stop their complicity and participation in the genocide war against our people in the Strip.

The Front added that there have been significant shifts in the British streets since the beginning of the zionist aggression on the Strip, one of the most important indications being the million-strong and massive marches that flood the British streets, and the declining popularity of the Conservative and Labour parties due to their biased stance with the occupation, which angers and shocks the zionist lobby, and explains their attack on any Palestinian solidarity activity, and the significant incitement, especially against the Popular Front in recent days and comrade fighter Leila Khaled in particular.

The Front concluded its statement, affirming that comrade fighter Leila Khaled will remain the resistant voice of Palestine that has not and will not fade, and neither the zionists nor the entire Western right-wing system will succeed in silencing this voice or in aborting the wide solidarity with the Palestinian cause in British and European circles.

أكدت الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين أن تحريض صحيفة التايمز البريطانية المعروف بتوجهاتها اليمينية فضلاً عن الصهاينة ووسائل الإعلام الصهيونية على الرفيقة المناضلة والقيادية في الجبهة ليلى خالد بعد إعلان نيتها المشاركة في حفل جمع تبرعات تنظمه حملة التضامن مع فلسطين في بريطانيا، هو محاولة فاشلة لإسكات الصوت الفلسطيني المقاوم، ولإجهاض أي تأثيرات لهذه المشاركة على الجمهور البريطاني الذي بدأت تتكشف أمامه أكثر فأكثر فظائع وجرائم الكيان الصهيوني، وحقيقة الدعم الغربي الرسمي لحرب الإبادة التي يشنها هذا الكيان الاستعماري الاستيطاني المجرم على الشعب الفلسطيني.

وجددت الجبهة تأكيدها على أن مقاومة شعبنا مشروعة وكفلتها القوانين والشراع الدولية، وأن من نفذوا عملية السابع من أكتوبر البطولية هم مقاتلون من أجل الحرية، وأن المناضلة ليلى خالد هي رمز وأيقونة نضالية فلسطينية، وهي تُمثل صورة شعبنا النضالية الناصعة، وأن مشاركتها في فعاليات وأنشطة تضامنية مع شعبنا الفلسطيني في قطاع غزة طبيعية وتأتي في إطار الواجب الوطني لتوسيع سبل التضامن الغربي مع القضية الفلسطينية، وللضغط أكثر على اليمين الغربي والسلطات البريطانية الرسمية وغيرها من الحكومات الغربية للتوقف عن تواطئها ومشاركتها في حرب الإبادة على شعبنا في القطاع.

وأضافت الجبهة أن هناك تَحوّلات هامة في الشارع البريطاني منذ بدء العدوان الصهيوني على القطاع، كان أحد أهم دلالته المسيرات المليونية والحاشدة التي تعم الشارع البريطاني، وتراجع شعبية حزبي المحافظين والعمال نتيجة موقفهم المنحاز مع الاحتلال، وهو ما يثير غضب وصدمة اللوبي الصهيوني، ويفسر هجومهم على أي نشاط تضامني فلسطيني، والتحريض الكبير بالذات على الجبهة الشعبية في الأيام الأخيرة والرفيقة المناضلة ليلى خالد على وجه الخصوص.

وختمت الجبهة بيانها، مؤكدةً أن الرفيقة المناضلة ليلى خالد ستظل صوت فلسطين المقاوم الذي لم ولن يغيب، ولن ينجح الصهاينة وكل المنظومة اليمينية الغربية في إسكات هذا الصوت أو القدرة على إجهاض حالة التضامن الواسعة مع قضية فلسطين في الأوساط البريطانية والأوروبية.

The Popular Front welcomes the referral of the Australian Prime Minister to the International Criminal Court as a partner in the genocide in the Strip.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine welcomed the referral of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to the International Criminal Court as a partner in the genocide waged on the Gaza Strip, as a result of his provision of political and material support to the zionist entity.

The Front affirmed that the endorsement of the referral by more than 100 lawyers under Article 15 of the Rome Statute against Albanese is an important step towards bringing all complicit Western leaders and participants to international justice, exposing their zionist positions that contributed to giving the green light for the zionist entity to continue its horrific atrocities against the Palestinian people.

The Front emphasized that the official Australian stance represented by Prime Minister Albanese is always biased towards the zionist entity, hostile to the Palestinian people, and completely contrary to the significant voices that have emerged in Australia rejecting this Australian support.

The Front confirmed that Australia’s continued provision of military and intelligence support to the zionist entity, including the export of F-35 fighter jet spare parts and its decision to freeze funding for UNRWA, as well as the mysterious deployment of an Australian military unit in the region, in addition to Australian officials’ repeated statements about the occupation’s right to self-defense and justification of its crimes against our people, and allowing Australians to travel to the entity and join the occupation army, is a direct Australian involvement in the genocide against our people in the Strip, highlighting the necessity of bringing all involved Australian leaders to international justice.

The Front concluded its statement, affirming that the hand of international justice must be long and must not remain shackled, should not falter, nor yield to American and zionist pressures, and must continue to pursue all zionist and Western leaders who have directly or indirectly involved in committing war crimes against the Palestinian people in the Strip.

رحبت الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين بإحالة رئيس الوزراء الأسترالي “انتوني ألبانيز” إلى المحكمة الجنائية الدولية باعتباره شريكاً في حرب الإبادة الجماعية التي تشن على قطاع غزة، ونتيجة تقديمه الدعم السياسي والمادي للكيان الصهيوني.

وأكدت الجبهة أن تأييد أكثر من 100 محامي الإحالة بموجب المادة 15 من نظام روما الأساسي ضد ألبانيز، خطوة هامة على طريق تقديم كل القادة الغربيين المتواطئين والمشاركين في حرب الإبادة إلى العدالة الدولية، وافتضاح مواقفهم المتصهينة التي ساهمت إعطاء الضوء الأخضر للكيان الصهيوني لمواصلة فظائعه المروعة بحق الشعب الفلسطيني.

وشددت الجبهة أن الموقف الأسترالي الرسمي الذي يمثله رئيس الوزراء ألبانيز منحاز على الدوام للكيان الصهيوني، ومعادي للشعب الفلسطيني، ومغاير تماماً للأصوات الهامة التي خرجت في استراليا الرافضة لهذا الدعم الأسترالي.

وأكدت الجبهة أن استمرار استراليا في تقديم الدعم العسكري والاستخباراتي للكيان الصهيوني ومن بينها تصدير قطع غيار طائرات مقاتلة من طراز F-35 وقرارها بتجميد تمويل الأونروا ونشر وحدة عسكرية استرالية بشكلٍ غامض في المنطقة، فضلاً عن التصريحات المتكررة للمسؤولين الاستراليين عن حق الاحتلال في الدفاع عن نفسه وتبرير جرائمه بحق شعبنا، والسماح للاستراليين بالسفر إلى الكيان والانضمام إلى جيش الاحتلال هو تورط استرالي مباشر في حرب الإبادة على شعبنا في القطاع، مما يؤكد ضرورة تقديم كل القادة الاستراليين المتورطين إلى العدالة الدولية.

Statements by the UN Envoy Patton are disgraceful, false, and biased towards the entity.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine strongly condemned the statements made by UN Envoy Pramila Patton, accusing “the resistance factions in Gaza of committing sexual violence crimes, torture, and harsh treatment against hostages and detainees on October 7,” asserting that these statements are shameful, far from the truth, and biased towards the entity.

The Front clarified that the purpose of these statements is to cover up the brutal crimes and practices of the occupation against our Palestinian people, which are fully documented by the United Nations and international institutions. In contrast, this UN envoy did not rely on any reliable evidence of the resistance factions committing any practices; instead, she relied on reports and testimonies of zionist origin that have been proven to be false.

The Front added, “Since the beginning of its war of genocide on the Strip, the zionist enemy, in its attempt to justify this crime against the Strip, has spread lies and fabricated narratives and stories about the resistance factions on October 7. However, in light of the absence of clear evidence, the publication of fabricated videos, and their exposure to the global public opinion, it forced heads of states, international institutions, and media entities to apologize.”

The Front emphasized that the resistance, with testimonials from international institutions and even by the admission of the released detainees and hostages, ensured to uphold ethics and good treatment of detainees, providing all forms of comfort and even protecting them from zionist bombing and treachery. At the same time, the world was shocked by the proven and documented reports and testimonies of the occupation committing sexual violence and torture against a large number of women during their arrest and detention in Khan Younis and other areas penetrated in the Gaza Strip.

The Front concluded its statement by calling on the UN envoy to retract and apologize for these dubious statements, to cease the double standards policy and equating the victim with the executioner, and to conduct a serious investigation into the ongoing practices of genocide in the Gaza Strip, not to cover up these crimes, or attempt to absolve the occupation, which has been intensified due to the lawsuit filed by South Africa in the International Court of Justice, revealing the atrocious reality of these crimes to the entire world.

وأوضحت الجبهة أن هذه التصريحات هدفها التغطية على جرائم وممارسات الاحتلال الوحشية بحق شعبنا الفلسطيني والموثقة بالكامل من جانب الأمم المتحدة والمؤسسات الدولية، في الوقت الذي لم تستند هذه المبعوثة الأممية لأي دليل موثوق عن ارتكاب فصائل المقاومة أي ممارسات؛ وإنما اعتمدت على تقارير وشهادات صهيونية جرى الكشف عن عدم صحتها.

واستدركت الجبهة: ” أن العدو الصهيوني منذ بدء حرب إبادته على القطاع وفي إطار تبرير هذه الجريمة على القطاع روج الأكاذيب واختلق الروايات والقصص حول فصائل المقاومة يوم السابع من أكتوبر، ولكن في ضوء انعدام الأدلة الواضحة، ونشر فيديوهات مفبركة، وانكشاف ذلك أمام الرأي العام العالمي، اضطر على اثرها رؤساء دول ومؤسسات دولية وجهات إعلامية إلى الاعتذار”.

وشددت الجبهة أن المقاومة وبشهادات من المؤسسات الدولية وحتى باعتراف المحتجزين والرهائن الذين تم اطلاق سراحهم حرصت على الالتزام بالأخلاق وحسن معاملة المحتجزين وتوفير كل أشكال الراحة وحتى حمايتهم من القصف والغدر الصهيوني، في وقت صُدمّ العالم بالتقارير والشهادات المثبتة والموثقة عن ارتكاب الاحتلال جرائم عنف جنسي وتعذيب بحق عدد كبير من النساء أثناء اعتقالهن واحتجازهن في خان يونس وغيرها من المناطق التي توغل فيها في قطاع غزة.

وختمت الجبهة بيانها، داعيةً المبعوثة الأممية إلى التراجع والاعتذار عن هذه التصريحات المريبة، والتوقف عن سياسة الكيل بمكيالين ومساواة الضحية بالجلاد، والتحقيق الجدي في ممارسات حرب الإبادة المستمرة في قطاع غزة، لا التستر على هذه الجرائم، أو محاولة قطع الحبل على عنق الاحتلال الذي اشتد بسبب الدعوى المقدمة من جنوب أفريقيا في محكمة العدل الدولية، وانكشاف حقيقة هذه الجرائم الفظيعة أمام العالم أجمع.

The statements made by the American Vice President, Kamala Harris, yesterday about Gaza and her lamentation over the catastrophic humanitarian situation there, reflect the hypocrisy of the American administration, and its attempts to numb the American public opinion regarding the ongoing zionist genocide in Gaza, and the direct American involvement in it.

The Front emphasized that the whole world knows perfectly well that the American administration is a major reason for the unprecedented humanitarian disaster and the starvation war against our people in the [Gaza] Strip, as it participates with the zionist entity in the aggression, supports it with various types of weapons that bomb the Strip, mobilizes all its capabilities in defense of the zionist entity, and has prevented the Security Council from making a decision to stop the firing three times. It is the only one capable of forcing the occupation to stop the aggression, yet it insists on participating in the bombing, slaughtering, starving, and besieging the people of Gaza.

The Front added that the American administration uses the policy of weeping, deception, and lies in an attempt to influence the American voter amidst continuous pressure on the American administration by activities, protests, and unprecedented mass demonstrations that spread across American city squares, besieged the White House and the homes of American officials, denouncing the American administration’s participation in its war on the Strip, and attempts from the American administration to improve the electoral situation for the war criminal Biden after his significant decline according to American opinion polls due to the stance on Gaza.

The Front concluded its statement by calling for the continuation of mass demonstrations and protests across America to expose the ugly face of the American administration and punish it for its participation in the genocide on the Strip, and to pressure it to end the humanitarian disaster in the sector and stop the aggression.

أكدت الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين أن تصريحات نائبة الرئيس الأمريكي “كاملا هاريس” أمس حول غزة وتباكيها على الوضع الإنساني الكارثي فيها، يعكس نفاق الإدارة الأمريكية، ومحاولاتها تخدير الرأي العام الأمريكي بخصوص حرب الإبادة الصهيونية الجارية المستمرة في غزة، والتورط الأمريكي المباشر فيها.

وشددت الجبهة أن العالم بأسره يعرف تماماً أن الإدارة الأمريكية سبب رئيسي من أسباب الكارثة الإنسانية غير المسبوقة وحرب التجويع بحق شعبنا في القطاع، فهي من تشارك الكيان الصهيوني في العدوان، وتدعمه بمختلف أنواع الأسلحة التي تقصف بها القطاع، وتُجند كل إمكانياتها في الدفاع عن الكيان الصهيوني، ومنعت ثلاث مرات مجلس الأمن من اتخاذ قرار بوقف إطلاق النار، وهي الوحيدة القادرة على إجبار الاحتلال بوقف العدوان، إلا أنها تصر على أن تشارك في قصف وذبح وتجويع وحصار أهل غزة.

The international community is adopting a policy of turning a blind eye to the occupation’s massacres and dealing with double standards.

The continued targeting of relief convoys and the war of starvation is an “israel spit” in the face of the international community.

The Popular Front for The Liberation of Palestine confirms that the occupation’s perpetration of another horrific massacre against civilians at the Kuwaiti Roundabout in Gaza City, and another in Deir Al-Balah in central Gaza Strip while people waited for relief convoys, resulting in dozens of martyrs and wounded, is a systematic zionist crime within the context of the war of starvation and genocide being waged against our people in the Strip.

The Front emphasizes that the occupation’s insistence on targeting relief convoys, the cold-blooded killing or starving citizens and continuing to prevent aid from entering Gaza and the North is a “spit” in the face of the international community and its institutions that pay lip service to humanitarian values and justice. They continue to adopt a policy of turning a blind eye to these horrific zionist crimes and adopt weak stances which encourage the occupation to continue committing these heinous crimes without taking deterrent measures against the occupation.

The Front considers the announcement of the martyrdom of dozens of children in the northern Gaza Strip due to food, medicine, and milk shortages amid a severe famine our people are suffering from there, a catastrophe of unparalleled brutality, criminality, and fascism which is witnessed by the entire world, with the partnership and sponsorship of America and its allies.

The Front concludes its statement by affirming that our people will undoubtedly triumph over the cowardly zionists despite the pain, starvation, and bloodshed. Shame will continue to haunt all conspirators, the negligent, and participants in the genocidal war against our people. We call on the free people of the world to confront and expose the policy of double standards and the hypocrisy of these standards with which international institutions use in regard to Palestine and what is happening in the Strip in particular.

وشددت الجبهة أن إصرار الاحتلال على استهداف قوافل الإغاثة والقتل بدمٍ بارد للمواطنين الجوعى، والاستمرار بمنع دخول المساعدات إلى مناطق غزة والشمال هو “بصقة” في وجه المجتمع الدولي والمؤسسات الدولية التي تتشدق بالقيم الإنسانية والعدالة، وتواصل انتهاج سياسة التعامي عن هذه الجرائم الصهيونية المروعة، وتبنى مواقف ضعيفة تُشجع الاحتلال على مواصلة ارتكابه هذه الجرائم الفظيعة ودون اتخاذ إجراءات رادعة بحق الاحتلال.

The Department of Refugee Affairs and the Right of Return in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine stressed the role and responsibilities of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in transporting and delivering relief aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip, including the Gaza and North governorates, emphasizing that the international neglect of this role contributes to the realization of the occupation’s plans to end UNRWA’s work and liquidate the right of return for refugees.

The department emphasized that the aerial aid drops have contributed to reducing UNRWA’s work, which possesses the capabilities, equipment, expertise, and human teams to carry out relief operations for our besieged and starving people in Gaza and the North, especially in light of the randomness and limited scope of the aerial operations, which do not ensure the delivery of aid to all our people there.

The department added, “Anyone who can coordinate an air drop can also coordinate for UNRWA’s aid trucks and convoys to fulfill their responsibilities in relieving our people there. The neglect of UNRWA by these international entities has political dimensions that intersect with the occupation’s plans to stop UNRWA’s work in the Strip.”

The department concluded its statement by affirming that the starvation war against our people in the [Gaza] Strip is ongoing in full view of the entire world, with no serious international deterrent to stop it.

There is a persistence from the international community to play the role of a spectator, conspirator, or to turn a blind eye to what our people in the Gaza Strip are subjected to, which must be met with a global uprising of anger that gathers in squares and capitals, knocks on the doors of international institutions, and besieges the embassies of aggression, until the massacre, genocide, and starvation war waged against our Palestinian people is stopped.

أكدت دائرة شؤون اللاجئين وحق العودة في الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين على دور ومسؤوليات وكالة غوث وتشغيل اللاجئين “الأونروا” في نقل وإيصال المساعدات الاغاثية إلى جميع مناطق قطاع غزة، بما فيها محافظتي غزة والشمال، مشددةً على أن التجاهل الدولي لهذا الدور يساهم في تحقيق مخططات الاحتلال في إنهاء عمل الأونروا، وتصفية حق عودة اللاجئين.

وشددت الدائرة على أن عمليات الإنزال الجوي للمساعدات ساهمت في تقليص عمل الأونروا التي تمتلك من الإمكانيات والمعدات والخبرات والطواقم البشرية للقيام بعملية إغاثة أبناء شعبنا المحاصرين والجوعى في غزة والشمال، وخاصةً في ضوء عشوائية ومحدودية عمليات الإنزال الجوي، والتي لا تضمن وصول المساعدات إلى جميع أبناء شعبنا هناك.

واستدركت الدائرة: ” أن من يستطيع أن ينسق للقيام بعملية إنزال من الطائرات يستطيع أن ينسق لسيارات وقوافل المساعدات التابعة للأونروا للقيام بمسؤولياتها في إغاثة شعبنا هناك، وإن تجاهل الأونروا من هذه الجهات الدولية له أبعاد سياسية تتقاطع مع مخططات الاحتلال الساعية لوقف عمل الأونروا بالقطاع.
وختمت الدائرة بيانها بالتأكيد على أن حرب التجويع بحق أبناء شعبنا في القطاع قائمة على مرأى ومسمع من العالم أجمع، ولا يوجد أي كابح دولي جدي لوقفها، وهناك  إصرار من المجتمع الدولي على لعب دور المتفرج أو المتآمر أو المتعامي على ما يتعرض له شعبنا في القطاع، مما يجب أن يواجه بانتفاضة عالمية غاضبة تحتشد في الميادين والعواصم، وتطرق أبواب المؤسسات الدولية، وتحاصر سفارات العدوان، حتى وقف المجزرة والإبادة الجماعية وحرب التجويع التي تشن ضد شعبنا الفلسطيني.

Limiting the entry of aid to air drops solidifies the occupation’s plans to isolate and divide the Strip.

Air drop operations for aid should not replace entry through crossings and land routes.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine confirmed that the operations of air drops of relief aid by some Arab countries and others to our besieged and hungry people, especially in the Gaza and North governorates, while necessary, should not be a substitute for the entry of aid through crossings and land routes to all areas of the Strip. There should be a serious decision to break the siege imposed on the Strip and to enforce the entry of all relief, medical supplies, and fuel.

The Front emphasized that delivering aid to our people through air drops and no other means, amidst a deliberate slowdown and restrictions imposed by the occupation on its entry through official crossings, reveals the state of the international community’s incapacity and its failure to stop this horrific disaster suffered by our people in the Strip. This has led to the spread of famine in large areas of the Strip, especially in Gaza and the North, and led to the brutal massacre committed at Al-Nablusi roundabout on Al-Rashid Street yesterday, Thursday.

The Front warned that air drop operations for aid should not replace entry through official crossings, stressing that limiting aid entry to air drops solidifies the occupation’s plans to isolate and divide the Strip, tighten the siege on our people, and cover up the occupation’s crimes and massacres against our people.

The Front concluded its statement by affirming that the international community faces a real test to prove its ability and seriousness to stop the catastrophe faced by the Palestinian people, perpetrated by the zionist entity with American and Western support, collusion, and conspiracy, which can only be achieved by stopping the aggression, a complete withdrawal of the zionist occupation from the Strip, breaking the siege entirely, and allowing the full entry of aid without restrictions from the occupation, as it is the priority capable of saving our people from aggression and the clutches of hunger.

الجبهة الشعبية: عمليات الإنزال الجوي للمساعدات يجب أن لا تكون بديلاً عن إدخالها عبر المعابر والطرق البرية

أكدت الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين أن قيام بعض الدول العربية وغيرها بعمليات إنزال جوي للمساعدات الإغاثية إلى أهلنا المحاصرين والجوعى خصوصاً في محافظتي غزة والشمال على ضرورتها يجب أن لا تكون بديلاً عن إدخال المساعدات عبر المعابر والطرق البرية لجميع مناطق القطاع، واتخاذ قرار جدي بكسر الحصار المفروض على القطاع، وفرض إدخال جميع المستلزمات الإغاثية والطبية والوقود.

وشددت الجبهة على أن عملية إيصال المساعدات لأبناء شعبنا عبر الجو دون غيرها من الوسائل وفي ظل وجود عملية بطء متعمدة وفرض قيود من الاحتلال على إدخالها عبر المعابر الرسمية، تكشف حالة عجز المجتمع الدولي، وتقاعسه عن وقف هذه الكارثة المروعة التي يعاني منها أبناء شعبنا في القطاع، والتي أدت إلى انتشار المجاعة في مناطق واسعة من القطاع خاصة في غزة والشمال، وقادت إلى المجزرة الوحشية التي ارتكبت على دوار النابلسي في شارع الرشيد أمس الخميس.

وحذرت الجبهة من أن تكون عمليات الإنزال الجوي للمساعدات بديلاً عن إدخالها عبر المعابر الرسمية، مؤكدةً أن اقتصار إدخال المساعدات على الجو تكريس لمخططات الاحتلال بفصل وتقسيم القطاع، وتشديد الحصار على شعبنا، وتغطيةً لجرائم ومجازر الاحتلال بحق شعبنا.

وختمت الجبهة بيانها مؤكدةً أن المجتمع الدولي أمام اختبار حقيقي لاثبات قدرته وجديته على وقف الكارثة التي يتعرض لها الشعب الفلسطيني التي يقترفها الكيان الصهيوني بدعمٍ وتواطؤ وتآمر امريكي وغربي، والذي يتحقق فقط بوقف العدوان وانسحاب كامل للاحتلال الصهيوني من القطاع، وكسر الحصار بالكامل وإدخال المساعدات بشكلٍ كامل دون قيود من الاحتلال، فهو الأولوية القادرة على انقاذ شعبنا من العدوان وبراثن الجوع.

The occupier lies about the starvation massacre, and the international reaction is a disgrace in itself.

The Popular Front confirmed that the international statements and reactions to the occupation’s massacre of citizens, who were collectively executed after trying to reach food, do not rise to the level of the crime and represent one of the continuous attempts to cover up the brutal crimes of the occupation and the ongoing genocide campaign against our people.

The Front affirmed that this international complacency, which was limited to condemnation, “expressing concern,” and calls for an independent investigation, amounts to a green light for the occupation to continue lying about one of the most brutal crimes in human history, committing more massacres, and proceeding with the genocide war.

The Front stated that there is no point to continue talking about a temporary truce that represents a vacation for the killers and relieves pressure on their supporters. The whole world must immediately act to stop the genocide and punish the occupier war criminals.

The Front stressed that the international system, whose deceit and bias towards the occupier were exposed, should not expect our people to stand idly by in the face of these massacres. Our people are capable of surpassing all imaginations about the limits of the Palestinian response.

The Front called on our people and our Arab nation to engage in all forms and tools of action to punish the criminals and the genocidal murderers, affirming that our people, our nation, and the supporters of Palestine and its oppressed people are the main front in confronting the criminal butcher Joe Biden and the genocide support coalition.

الجبهة الشعبية: المحتل يكذب بشأن مجزرة الجوع و رد الفعل الدولي هو العار بعينه

أكدت الجبهة الشعبية أن التصريحات وردود الفعل الدولية على مجزرة الاحتلال بحق المواطنين الذين اعدمهم جماعيا بعد أن حاولوا الوصول للطعام، لا يرتقي ابدا لمستوى الجريمة، ويشكل واحدة من محاولات التغطية المستمرة على جرائم الاحتلال الوحشية وحملة الابادة المستمرة بحق شعبنا.

واكدت الجبهة ان هذا التهاون الدولي والذي اقتصر على الإدانة و”التعبير عن القلق” والدعوات لتحقيق مستقل، بمثابة ضوء اخضر للاحتلال للاستمرار في الكذب بشأن واحدة من أكثر الجرائم وحشية في التاريخ البشري، وارتكاب المزيد من المذابح والمضي في حرب الابادة..
وقالت الجبهة أنه لا معنى لاستمرار الحديث عن هدنة مؤقتة تمثل إجازة للقتلة، ورفع للضغط عن داعميهم، وأن العالم بأسره عليه أن يتحرك فورا لوقف حرب الإبادة ومعاقبة مجرمي الحرب المحتلين.

واكدت الجبهة أن النظام الدولي الذي افتضح زيفه وانحيازه للمحتل، يجب ألا يتوقع من شعبنا الوقوف مكتوف اليدين أمام هذه المجازر، وأن شعبنا قادر على تجاوز كل التخيلات حول حدود الرد الفلسطيني.

ودعت الجبهة أبناء شعبنا وامتنا العربية، للانخراط في كل أشكال الفعل وأدواته لأجل معاقبة المجرمين وسفاحي الابادة، مؤكدة أن شعبنا وأمتنا وأنصار فلسطين وشعبها المظلوم هم الجبهة الرئيسية في مواجهة السفاح المجرم جو بايدن وتحالف دعم الابادة .

[From February 29 to March 1, multiple Palestinian factions held a unification meeting on invitation by the Russian Federation.]

The Palestinian factions gathered in the city of Moscow express their gratitude and appreciation to the Russian leadership for hosting their meetings and for its supportive stance on the Palestinian cause.

Amidst the zionist criminal aggression our people are facing, the factions highlighted the constructive and positive spirit that prevailed during the meeting. They agreed that their meetings would continue in future dialogue rounds to achieve comprehensive national unity that encompasses all Palestinian forces and factions within the framework of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the sole and legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.

The factions affirmed their agreement on the urgent tasks facing the Palestinian people and their united efforts to achieve them, including:

1- Confronting the criminal “israeli” aggression and the genocide war waged against our people in the Gaza Strip, West Bank, and Al-Quds, with the support, backing, and participation of the United States of America.

2- Resisting and stopping the attempts to displace our people from their homeland, Palestine, especially in Gaza Strip or in the West Bank and Al-Quds, and affirming the illegitimacy of settlement and settlement expansion according to the resolutions of the Security Council and the General Assembly of the United Nations.

3- Working to lift the brutal siege on our people in Gaza Strip and the West Bank and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian, vital, and medical aid without restrictions or conditions.

4- Forcing the occupation army to withdraw from the Gaza Strip, preventing attempts to consolidate its occupation or control over any part of Gaza Strip under the pretext of buffer zones, and adhering to the unity of all Palestinian lands in accordance with the Basic Law.

5- Rejecting any attempts to separate Gaza Strip from the West Bank, including Al-Quds, as part of efforts to deprive the Palestinian people of their right to self-determination and to establish their free, independent, and fully sovereign state on all occupied Palestinian lands with Al-Quds as its capital, in accordance with international resolutions.

6- Supporting and backing the heroic steadfastness of our struggling people and their resistance in Palestine, and their keenness to support our people in Gaza Strip and the West Bank, especially in Al-Quds, and their brave resistance to overcome the wounds and destruction caused by the criminal aggression, to rebuild what the occupation has destroyed, and to support the families of martyrs and the injured, and those who have lost their homes, properties, and livelihoods.

7- Confronting the occupation’s conspiracies and its continuous violations against the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, its attacks on freedom of worship during the holy month of Ramadan, preventing worshippers from reaching it, and insisting on resisting any harm to Al-Aqsa Mosque, the city of Al-Quds, and its Islamic and Christian sanctities.

8- Fully supporting the the valiant male and female prisoners in the jails who are subjected to various forms of torture and oppression, and the determination to prioritize every possible effort to liberate them from the occupation’s captivity.

9- Emphasizing the protection of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and its vital role in caring for Palestinian refugees until their return, and the implementation of United Nations Resolution 194.

10- The Palestinian factions salute South Africa for its support of the Palestinian people and its fundamental role in bringing a case before the International Court of Justice to hold the “israeli” occupation accountable for the crime of genocide.

بيان صادر عن اجتماع الفصائل الفلسطينية في موسكو

عبرت الفصائل الفلسطينية عن شكرها وتقديرها للقيادة الروسية على استضافتها لاجتماعاتها، وعلى موقفها الداعم للقضية الفلسطينية

اتفقت على أن اجتماعاتها ستسمر في جولات حوارية قادمة للوصول إلى وحدة وطنية شاملة تضم القوى والفصائل الفلسطينية كافة في إطار منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية الممثل الشرعي والوحيد للشعب الفلسطيني.

وأكدت الفصائل على توافقها على المهمات الملحة أمام الشعب الفلسطيني ووحدة عملها من أجل تحقيقها وفي مقدمتها:

التصدي للعدوان الإسرائيلي الاجرامي وحرب الإبادة الجماعية التي تشنها على شعبنا في قطاع غزة والضفة الغربية والقدس بدعم ومساندة ومشاركة الولايات المتحدة الأميركية.

مقاومة ووقف وإفشال محاولات تهجير شعبنا من أرض وطنه فلسطين خصوصاً في قطاع غزة أو في الضفة الغربية والقدس، والتأكيد على عدم شرعية الاستيطان والتوسع الاستيطاني وفقاً لقرارات مجلس الأمن والجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة.

  العمل على فك الحصار الهمجي على شعبنا في قطاع غزة والضفة الغربية وإيصال المساعدات الإنسانية والحيوية والطبية دون قيود أو شروط

إجبار جيش الاحتلال على الانسحاب من قطاع غزة ومنع محاولات تكريس احتلاله أو سيطرته على أي جزء من قطاع غزة بحجة مناطق عازلة، وسائر الأراضي المحتلة، والتمسك بوحدة الأراضي الفلسطينية كافة وفق القانون الأساسي.

رفض أي محاولات لفصل قطاع غزة عن الضفة الغربية بما فيها القدس في إطار المساعي لسلب الشعب الفلسطيني حقه في تقرير المصير وإقامة دولته الحرة المستقلة كاملة السيادة على جميع الأراضي الفلسطينية المحتلة وعاصمتها القدس وفقاً للقرارات الدولية.

دعم وإسناد الصمود البطولي لشعبنا المناضل ومقاومته في فلسطين وحرصها على إسناد شعبنا في قطاع غزة والضفة الغربية وخصوصاً في القدس، ومقاومته الباسلة، لتجاوز الجراح والدمار الذي سببه العدوان الإجرامي، وإعمار ما دمره الاحتلال، ودعم عائلات الشهداء والجرحى وكل من فقد بيته وممتلكاته ومصادر رزقه.

التصدي لمؤامرات الاحتلال وانتهاكاته المستمرة ضد المسجد الأقصى المبارك، واعتداءاته على حرية العبادة في شهر رمضان الفضيل ومنع المصلين من الوصول إليه، والإصرار على مقاومة أي مس بالمسجد الأقصى ومدينة القدس ومقدساتها الإسلامية والمسيحية.

الإسناد الكامل للأسرى والأسيرات البواسل في السجون الذين يتعرضون لمختلف أشكال التعذيب والقمع، والتصميم على أولوية بذل كل جهد ممكن من أجل تحريرهم من أسر الاحتلال.

التأكيد على حماية وكالة الغوث الدولية ودورها الحيوي في رعاية اللاجئين الفلسطينيين حتى  تحقيق عودتهم، وتنفيذ قرار الأمم المتحدة رقم 194.

توجه الفصائل الفلسطينية التحية لدولة جنوب أفريقيا على دعمها للشعب الفلسطيني ودورها الأساس في رفع قضية أمام محكمة العدل الدولية لمحاسبة الاحتلال الإسرائيلي على جريمة الإبادة الجماعية.

The Popular Front praises the heroic operation in the “Eli” settlement and confirms its significance in timing, location, and as a breach of the zionist security system.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine praised the heroic operation in the “Eli” settlement in the Ramallah district, which resulted in the death of zionist settlers and the injury of others, affirming that this operation comes as a natural response to the occupation’s crimes, the latest of which was today’s massacre at the Nablusi roundabout west of Gaza City.

The Front confirmed that this operation is significant in terms of its timing and the place of execution and constitutes an important breach of the zionist security system despite the extensive precautions and the high state of zionist alert in all areas of the West Bank.

The Front concluded its statement by sending messages to the enemy, “that it should expect more of these heroic operations carried out by our heroes in the proud West Bank in support of Gaza of glory, affirming the unity of the Palestinian people, and expressing the resistance’s capability there to exhaust the enemy and strike at the heart of its entity and its settlements”.

أشادت الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين بالعملية البطولية في مستعمرة “عيلي” قضاء رام الله، والتي أسفرت عن مقتل مستوطنين صهيونيين وإصابة آخرين، مؤكدةً أن هذه العملية تأتي في إطار الرد الطبيعي على جرائم الاحتلال، والتي كان آخرها مجزرة اليوم على دوار النابلسي غربي مدينة غزة.

وأكدت الجبهة أن هذه العملية نوعية من حيث توقيتها ومكان تنفيذها، وتُشكّل اختراقاً مهماً للمنظومة الأمنية الصهيونية رغم الاحتياطات الكبيرة وحالة الاستنفار الصهيونية الكبيرة في جميع مناطق الضفة.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine holds the American administration, the international community, and the official Arab regime responsible for the horrific massacre committed by the zionist enemy this Thursday morning at the Nabulsi roundabout against our starving people waiting for aid, resulting in the martyrdom of hundreds and the injury of thousands.

The Front affirmed that the criminal zionist enemy continues to commit war crimes and genocidal massacres, the most bloody and brutal in contemporary history, practicing organized state terrorism in full view of the unjust and silent world, with a green light and support from the American administration, the West, and the international community, amidst official Arab silence.

The Front emphasized that this new brutal massacre against thousands of the hungry who waited long and in the bitter cold for relief aid is another proof of the zionist entity’s brutality and its continuation of committing the genocidal war against our people in the Strip, whether by the weapon of starvation or by bombing.

The Front stressed that the international community and all those complicit and negligent with the occupation must make a clear decision to oblige the occupation to stop the aggression, bombing, and starvation war against our people, break the siege, open all crossings, and ensure the entry of aid, especially to our people in Gaza and the North governorates, and guarantee the protection of citizens, so that relief aid areas do not become crematoria for our people.

The Front concluded its statement affirming that the international community is complicit in these gruesome massacres, and the Arab countries have let down the Palestinian people. They must realize that these massacres and the starvation war will not and cannot subdue the Palestinian people or weaken their will to fight.

The blood of our people and the sufferings of the wounded and the pains of the hungry will become a curse that haunts the occupation and all those responsible for this suffering.

حَملّت الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين الإدارة الأميركية والمجتمع الدولي والنظام الرسمي العربي المسؤولية عن المجزرة المروعة التي ارتكبها العدو الصهيوني صباح اليوم الخميس على دوار النابلسي بحق أبناء شعبنا الجوعى الذين كانوا ينتظرون المساعدات، والتي أسفرت عن استشهاد المئات وإصابة الآلاف.

وأكدت الجبهة أن العدو الصهيوني المجرم يواصل ارتكاب جرائم حرب ومجازر إبادة هي الأكثر دموية ووحشية في التاريخ المعاصر، ويمارس إرهاب دولة منظم على مرأى ومسمع من العالم الظالم والصامت، وبضوء أخضر ودعم من الإدارة الأميركية والغرب والمجتمع الدولي، وفي ظل صمت عربي رسمي.

وشددت الجبهة أن على المجتمع الدولي وكل المتساوقين والمتخاذلين مع الاحتلال اتخاذ قرار واضح لإلزام الاحتلال بوقف العدوان والقصف وحرب التجويع على شعبنا وكسر الحصار وفتح جميع المعابر وإدخال المساعدات خاصة لشعبنا في محافظتي غزة والشمال، وضمان حماية المواطنين، لا أن تصبح مناطق إنزال المساعدات الإغاثية محارق لأبناء شعبنا.

وختمت الجبهة بيانها مؤكدةً أن المجتمع الدولي متورط في هذه المجازر البشعة، والبلدان العربية خذلت الشعب الفلسطيني، وعليهم أن يدركوا أن هذه المجازر وحرب التجويع لم ولن تركع الشعب الفلسطيني، أو تضعف إرادة القتال فيه، وستتّحوّل دماء شعبنا وعذابات الجرحى وآلام الجوعى لعنة تُطارد الاحتلال وكل المتسببين بهذه المعاناة.

On their steps we walk, so the martyrs’ square blooms.

With more pride, dignity, and revolutionary pride, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and its military wing, the Martyr Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, mourn to our people and the free people of the world, the fighting martyr comrade, Bashar Nihad Aref Hanani, 18 years old from the red town of Beit Furik, who was martyred at dawn today, Thursday, while heroically confronting the occupation forces that stormed the town.

The Front and its Brigades salute the family, comrades, and friends of the martyr, who carried the name as a medal and the banner of struggle from behind the field heroes and the combat tasks. His uncle, the martyr leader Bashar Hanani, the commander of the Martyr Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades in Nablus, represent a commitment to the education and national values from the school of heroism and pride.

At the time we mourn our martyrs and the martyrs of our people in all their places of presence, our people fighting on their land until the victory of their right to freedom and independence, the Front alongside our people faces the attempt to liquidate its leaders, cadres, members, and supporters by killing, pursuit, chasing, and arrest. We affirm that we are continuing on the path of the martyrs, carrying their wills, and continuing in resistance and struggle until achieving our people’s goals in their victory in the battle of Al-Aqsa Flood, leading to the realization of their right to return, freedom, and independence and the establishment of the independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital over the entire national land.

We call on our people to persist in resistance as an ongoing feasibility as long as the occupation exists, escalate the state of confrontation, and participate in the battle of dignity (Al-Aqsa Flood) in the West Bank and Al-Quds and all places of our people’s presence, until the occupation’s defilement is cleansed from our land.

بمزيد من الفخر والاعتزاز والكبرياء الثوري تنعي الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين وذراعها العسكري كتائب الشهيد أبو علي مصطفى إلى جماهير شعبنا وأحرار العالم، الرفيق الشهيد المشتبك البطل، بشار نهاد عارف حنني (18) عاماً من بلدة بيت فوريك الحمراء، والذي استشهد فجر اليوم الخميس أثناء تصديه البطولي لقوات الاحتلال التي اقتحمت البلدة.

وتتوجه الجبهة وكتائبها بتحية إجلال وإكبار إلى عائلة ورفاق وأصدقاء الشهيد، الذي حمل من الاسم الوسام وراية الكفاح من خلف أبطال الميدان والمهام الكفاحية عمه الشهيد القائد بشار حنني قائد كتائب الشهيد أبو علي مصطفى في نابلس، ليمثلا عنواناً للالتزام بالتربية والقيم الوطنية من مدرسة البطولة والإباء.

في الوقت الذي ننعي فيه شهداءنا وشهداء شعبنا في كافة أماكن تواجده، شعبنا الذي يقاتل على أرضه حتى انتصار حقه بالحرية والاستقلال، تتعرض فيه الجبهة إلى جانب شعبنا إلى محاولة التصفية لقياداتها وكوادرها وأعضائها وأنصارها بالقتل والملاحقة والمطاردة والاعتقال، فإننا نؤكد بأننا ماضوون على خطى الشهداء وحمل وصاياهم والاستمرار في المقاومة والنضال حتى تحقيق أهداف شعبنا في انتصاره في معركة طوفان الأقصى وصولاً لانتزاع حقه بالعودة والحرية والاستقلال وإقامة الدولة الفلسطينية المستقلة وعاصمتها القدس على كامل التراب الوطني، وندعو أبناء شعبنا بالإصرار على المقاومة كجدوى مستمرة ما بقي الاحتلال وتصعيد حالة الاشتباك والمشاركة بمعركة الكرامة (طوفان الاقصى) في الضفة والقدس وكافة أماكن تواجد شعبنا، حتى غسل دنس الاحتلال عن أرضنا.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine confirmed that the announcement by the administration of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip of the hospital’s cessation of services due to the depletion of fuel is a new zionist war crime and a death sentence on thousands of the besieged, hungry, and sick members of our people in the north who have been stranded and have become at the mercy of brutal bombing and the complete collapse of medical services.

The Front holds the American administration and the international community responsible for the disaster suffered by our people in the Gaza Strip, especially in the northern Gaza Strip, as a result of their complicity with the zionist entity in a war of genocide unprecedented in history in its brutality, which includes the systematic destruction of the health infrastructure, targeting hospitals and medical teams, and denying medicine and treatment to thousands of patients, leaving them to their fate. The Popular Front calls on the Arab masses to take to the streets to overthrow the land bridge connecting Arab ports with the occupation.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine demanded stopping the land bridge that supplies the occupation with goods starting from the ports of Dubai, calling on the Arab masses in all their components to take to the streets to force their Arab regimes to stop this bridge and to continue on this path which directs a stab to the river of blood flowing on the land of Palestine.

The Front stated: “At a time when the zionist enemy is waging a war of genocide against the Gaza Strip, amidst intense brutal bombing and complete destruction of infrastructure, a siege and a starvation war, and the prevention of food, medicine, and fuel, some Arab regimes open their land borders to the criminal zionist entity, confirming their complicity in the face of the zionist aggression on the Strip, and the siege imposed on it.”

The Front emphasized that the governmental denial by some regimes of participating in the bridge requires a practical clarification of their position, following the steps of overthrowing so-called peace treaties with the occupation because they give the occupation legitimacy and an outlet to continue its genocide and starvation of our people.

The Front expressed its gratitude for all the Arab initiatives aimed at relieving our people and saving them from the war of starvation being waged against them, but these regimes can move a wide land bridge to rescue our people by opening the borders and enforcing the entry of aid.

The Front called on these regimes to retreat from this step and respond to the will of the Arab peoples by cutting all forms of relations with the occupation, including the cancellation of the shameful peace agreements with it; it is more rightful for these regimes to initiate the establishment of a land bridge that breaks the siege imposed on the Strip, ends the suffering of our people, and stops the war of starvation waged against them.

الجبهة الشعبية تدعو الجماهير العربية للنزول للشارع لإسقاط الجسر البري الذي يربط موانئ عربية بالاحتلال

طالبت الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين بوقف الجسر البري الذي يمد الاحتلال بالبضائع بدءاً من موانئ دبي، داعيةً الجماهير العربية بكل مكوناتها إلى النزول للشارع لإجبار أنظمتها العربية على وقف هذا الجسر ومضيها بهذا الطريق الذي يوجه طعنة لنهر الدماء التي تسيل على أرض فلسطين.

وقالت الجبهة: ” في الوقت الذي يشن فيه العدو الصهيوني حرب إبادة جماعية بحق قطاع غزة، وفي ظل قصف وحشي مكثف وتدمير كامل للبنية التحتية، وحصار وحرب تجويع، ومنع للغذاء والدواء والوقود، تفتح بعض الأنظمة العربية حدودها البرية إلى الكيان الصهيوني المجرم، مما يؤكد تواطؤها في ظل العدوان الصهيوني على القطاع، والحصار المفروض علىه”.

وأكدت الجبهة أن النفي الحكومي لبعض الأنظمة في المشاركة بالجسر، يحتاج إلى توضيح موقفها بشكلٍ عملي، على خطى إسقاط ما يسمى بمعاهدات السلام مع الاحتلال لأنها تعطي الاحتلال شرعية ومنفذ لمواصلة حرب إبادته وتجويعه لشعبنا.

وعَبّرت الجبهة عن شكرها لكل المبادرات العربية الهادفة إلى إغاثة شعبنا وإنقاذه من حرب التجويع التي تشن عليه، ولكن بإمكان هذه الأنظمة أن تحرك جسراً برياً واسعاً لإنقاذ شعبنا عبر فتح الحدود وفرض إدخال المساعدات.

ودعت الجبهة هذه الأنظمة إلى التراجع عن هذه الخطوة، والاستجابة لإرادة الشعوب العربية بقطع كل أشكال العلاقات مع الاحتلال وعلى رأسها إلغاء اتفاقيات السلام والعار معها؛ فالأحق أن تبادر هذه الأنظمة بإنشاء جسر بري يكسر الحصار المفروض على القطاع، وينهي معاناة شعبنا، ويوقف حرب التجويع التي تُشن عليه.

Press Statement by PFLP

The escalation of the global struggle and protest is the duty of humanity in the face of the war of annihilation

After five months of the ongoing war of annihilation against our people, in which the Zionist killing machine has continued to pour its fire on civilians, hospitals and vital facilities, nothing is clearer than the grievance of our people and the justice of their cause, or the brutality, criminality of our enemy and the role of its supporters in the launch and continuation of the annihilation campaign.

We emphasize that this systematic campaign of annihilation was nothing but an American war to liquidate the rights of our people, destroy the elements of their existence, and force them to abandon their cause and rights under the fire of annihilation, a war on the legitimate and just human endeavor to support the rights and struggle of the Palestinian people for freedom and independence, as the U.S. administration and the annihilation coalition made up of colonial governments that armed and supplied the Zionist killing system, provided it with political cover, and stood against any attempt to stop the aggression.

The Zionist-imperialist alliance that ignites and supports aggression and genocide requires a comprehensive confrontation with the policies of the governments supporting the aggression, mobilizing all allied and friendly forces to confront it, and putting pressure on the governments leading the aggression against our people in the United States, Europe, Australia and Canada, which is an essential part of the tasks of toppling this aggression and stopping the genocide, and a humanitarian duty that cannot be neglected by all believers in justice and humanity in this world.

This brutal war will not stop without escalating pressure on the forces of aggression, raising the slogan of rejecting inhumane racist policies, confronting the degenerate Zionist terrorism, working to dismantle the coalition of annihilation, and upholding Palestine and its cause and the right and dignity of its people as a compass for humanity, a test for every living conscience in this world, and an address for the struggle of peoples to obtain their rights and freedom and defend their existence in the face of murderous systems and the cabal of war criminals.

In the context of the need to escalate the confrontation against murderous and brutal governments, we emphasize the following points:

1- Our call to escalate protests in all their forms, and to strengthen forms of direct pressure on governments, politicians and parties, to stop the war of extermination, lift the deadly siege, end the occupation, and defend our people’s right to freedom, independence, return and self-determination. In light of the war of annihilation, it is imperative to unify the struggle and strengthen coordination between all Palestinian and Arab forces and supporters of the Palestinian cause around the world, in order to form the front of Palestine and humanity against the coalition of aggression, supporters of annihilation, and war criminals. The need to develop work according to common and unified strategies aimed at stopping the genocidal war and supporting our people in their just struggle for their legitimate rights.

2- Expanding the area of mobilization for mass protest and expanding its frameworks through coordination with unions, parties, supporting and friendly forces and frameworks, overcoming any obstacles that prevent this, and rising to the level of duty towards the sacrifices of our people, and in this context, we call for the widest mass participation in the events of March 2, 2024 throughout the world. The need to escalate the boycott of the occupation with its various arms, governments and companies that support it, in all forms of boycott, and work to isolate the occupier and create economic and political pressure as an effective and necessary struggle tool at this stage.

3- We call on all living forces, including solidarity and trade unions, to escalate all forms of struggle and pressure aimed at stopping supplies destined to equip the Zionist killing machine against our people, whether by opposing decisions to export arms and materials supporting the criminal occupation, or by direct objections aimed at obstructing the transportation and shipment of ammunition for extermination.

4- We stress the need for everyone to fulfill their duty to support the steadfastness of our people in Gaza Strip, both materially and morally, and the need to work to expand, develop and organize the forms and tools of support.

5- We call for organizing, institutionalizing and structuring these movements to ensure continuity and impact in order to save humanity from its moral predicament.

6- We salute the global people movements and their living conscience that rejects the hysteria of the Zionist/imperialist war leadership. We especially salute the new pulse led by consciousness activists in the world, as a true, free, democratic and peaceful expression of victory for the universality of Palestine.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine expresses its full solidarity with his family and with all the American sympathizers.

The act of an American soldier sacrificing himself for Palestine is the highest sacrifice and a medal, and a poignant message to the American administration to stop its involvement in the aggression.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine affirmed that the act of the American soldier Aaron Bushnell from the U.S. Air Force by setting himself on fire in front of the zionist embassy in Washington, D.C., in protest against the war on Gaza, which he called for the “liberation of Palestine,” confirms the state of anger among the American people due to the official American involvement in the zionist genocide war being waged on the Gaza Strip. It also indicates that the status of the Palestinian cause, especially in American circles, is becoming more deeply entrenched in the global conscience, and reveals the truth of the zionist entity as a cheap colonial tool in the hands of savage imperialism.

The Front expressed its full solidarity with the soldier’s family and all the American sympathizers who took a honorable stance and whose struggle and pressure to stop the genocide on the Strip have not ceased, confirming that the act of an American soldier sacrificing his life to draw the attention of the American people and the world to the plight of the Palestinian people, despite its tragic nature and the great pain it involves, is considered the highest sacrifice and medal, and the most important poignant message directed to the American administration, that it is involved in the war crime in Gaza and that the American people have awakened and are rejecting this American involvement, calling on the American administration to stop this support and bias for the zionist entity.

The Front sent a message to the Arab soldier to take this American soldier who sacrificed his life for a noble cause like the Palestinian cause as an example and role model, and to leave the trenches of waiting, incapacity, and move to the trench of confrontation in support of Palestine and its people who are being slaughtered, besieged, and starved in full view and hearing of the world and just a few kilometers from Arab lands and meters from the borders.

Palestine will be victorious as long as it has deeply engraved itself in the conscience and consciences of the world, and history will record in golden letters the names of all the sympathizers and free people of the world who stood with it and sacrificed their lives for its sake.

أكدت الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين أن قيام الجندي الأمريكي “أرون بوشنيل” من سلاح الجو الأمريكي بإشعال النار في نفسه أمام السفارة الصهيونية في مدينة واشنطن الأمريكية احتجاجاً على الحرب على غزة، والتي دعا فيها إلى “تحرير فلسطين”، يؤكد على حالة الغضب في صفوف الشعب الأمريكي جراء التورط الأمريكي  الرسمي في حرب الإبادة الصهيونية التي تُشن على قطاع غزة، كما تُدلل على أن مكانة القضية الفلسطينية خاصة في الأوساط الأمريكية تتعمق أكثر فأكثر في الضمير العالمي، كما وتكشف حقيقة الكيان الصهيوني باعتباره أداة استعمارية رخيصة في أيدي الامبريالية المتوحشة.

وأعربت الجبهة عن تضامنها الكامل مع عائلة الجندي ومع كل المتضامنين الأمريكيين الذين اتخذوا موقفاً مشرفاً ولم يتوقف نضالهم وضغطهم من أجل وقف حرب الإبادة الجماعية على القطاع، مؤكدةً أن قيام جندي أمريكي بالتضحية بحياته من أجل لفت أنظار الشعب الأمريكي والعالم أمام مظلومية الشعب الفلسطيني، وبقدر مأساويتها وحجم الألم الكبير فيها، إلا أنها تعتبر أرفع تضحية ووسام، وأهم رسالة مؤثرة توجه إلى الإدارة الأمريكية، بأنها متورطة في جريمة الحرب في غزة وأن الشعب الأمريكي قد استيقظ وأصبح يرفض هذا التورط الأمريكي، ويدعو الإدارة الأمريكية إلى التوقف عن هذا الدعم والانحياز للكيان الصهيوني.

ووجهت الجبهة رسالة إلى الجندي العربي بأن يتخذ من هذا الجندي الأمريكي الذي ضحى بحياته من أجل قضية سامية كالقضية الفلسطينية مثلاً وقدوةً، وترك خنادق الانتظار والعجز والانتقال إلى خندق المواجهة نصرةً لفلسطين ولشعبها الذي يُذبّح ويُحاصر ويُجوّع على مرأى ومسمع من العالم وعلى بعد كيلومترات قليلة من الأراضي العربية وأمتار قليلة من الحدود.

وختمت الجبهة بيانها مؤكدةً أن فلسطين ستنتصر طالماً أنها حفرت عميقاً في وجدان وضمائر العالم، وسيسجل التاريخ بحروفٍ من ذهب أسماء كل المتضامنين وأحرار العالم الذين وقفوا معها وضحوا بأرواحهم من أجلها.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine strongly condemned the renewed American-British aggression against Yemen, expressing its full solidarity and support for the brothers in Yemen in facing the aggression.

The Front added that this aggression confirms the significant and important impact of the heroic operations carried out by the Yemeni Armed Forces against American, British, and zionist targets. It also reveals the extent of the zionist lobby’s infiltration in American and Western official circles, which dominate decision-making and are directed to protect the zionist entity and serve its expansionist interests and objectives. This reaffirms that America and Britain are fully complicit in the zionist genocide crimes against our Palestinian people.

Why, then, with a drug so powerful, effective, and cheap to produce, are 90% of cancer treatment centers in the U.S. are facing critical shortages of cisplatin and other common cancer drugs? In some centers oncologists are being forced to triage their patients to save supplies; only those most likely to be fully cured are given these life saving drugs. Those who don’t make it onto the triage list are left with alternative treatments that are either less safe, less effective, or considerably more expensive. 

But none of this is new. This is the latest instance of an ongoing drug shortage crisis that has been happening for decades. 

A report from 2011 detailed the rising number of drug shortages going back to the 1980s and intensifying in the mid-2000s. “The number of drug shortages has been rapidly escalating in recent years; ASHP/UUHC reported 70 in 2006, 129 in 2007, 149 in 2008, and 166 in 2009.” 

In 2018, things had not gotten better. The Drug Shortages Task Force Public Meeting produced a report that year detailing still rampant, life threatening drug shortages: Drug Shortages: Root Causes and Potential Solutions.

In April of this very year shortages included those powerful cancer drugs — and there were other shortages reported for over 300 drugs.

Capital’s explanation of drug shortages: supply chains, lack of incentives and regulatory challenges

In the 2019 report, the FDA’s task force identifies “three root causes for drug shortages:

• Lack of incentives for manufacturers to produce less profitable drugs;
• The market does not recognize and reward manufacturers for “mature quality systems” that focus on continuous improvement and early detection of supply chain issues; and
• Logistical and regulatory challenges make it difficult for the market to recover from a disruption.”

Richard Pazdur, director of the FDA Oncology Center of Excellence and the Office of Oncologic Diseases, gave an interview outlining the causes and the FDA’s potential solutions for this latest shortage in cancer drugs. “Today’s critical shortage of cisplatin and carboplatin occurred because manufacturers failed to invest in enhancing production capacity,” said Pazdur.

He goes on to outline how one of the factories was shut down after a failed FDA inspection. And then, “As a result of the cisplatin shortage, a ripple effect was observed leading to an increased demand for carboplatin and the manufacturing challenges in meeting an increased carboplatin demand… A failure to invest in newer equipment, processes, or management practices that can prevent quality-related manufacturing breakdowns is often a root cause and appears to be tied to the economics of producing low-cost, older sterile injectables where profit margins are increasingly squeezed.”

While this analysis is largely correct, it is incomplete. Yes, the market is the cause, but what about the market? The anarchy of production.

What is this anarchy? Because capitalist production is not keyed to the needs of the people, but only responsive to changes in market conditions — changes in price — the amount of any given commodity needed by society is never precisely known. Instead of calibrating production to meet needs, capitalists (investors, owners of capital) watch the prices in the market. Now, prices trail behind any given social need, but they are the best markers the capitalist has of where to invest his money. When the capitalist sees prices drop, he takes his money out of that kind of production. When he sees prices rise, he puts his money back.

Clearly there is a demand for these drugs. If there is a demand in the market, that means there is profit to be made and a capitalist should step in to capitalize on that demand by increasing supply. 

But, these shortages have been going on for decades! Where is the increase in supply that we should be seeing?

Because the cost of production of, say, cisplatin, is only $10/dose and is sold at roughly $20/dose, the profit from its production is 100% — that is, $10 in profit for every $10 spent. In contrast, the active ingredient of Xanax costs roughly 3 cents per dose, but a single Xanax pill costs roughly $3. That’s a profit of 1,000%. Of course, drug companies guard the active ingredient costs with iron walls to prevent the public from seeing how much we’re being fleeced for necessary medicine. Congress alone is permitted to see the current data.

There simply isn’t enough of a profit motive for companies to prioritize the production of low-cost drugs. Furthermore, drugs are developed at the end of a very tenuous and dysregulated supply chain. They are finished products made from the finished products made from other finished products. A disruption at any point in this chain (such as a shortage of a raw material or a plant being closed for a failed inspection) causes the whole thing to come crashing down. For high-profit commodities, corporations will often spend money to conduct studies, secure supply chains, and make sure they are producing enough to reach market demand. But if the value of a cisplatin pill is a mere 100% while a Xanax pill is 1,000%, they will never spend the money to investigate the cisplatin shortfall.

Worse, when there is a shortfall in production, it suddenly becomes more lucrative to produce the medication. The price increases.  A recent shortage of ADHD medications resulted in a price rise to consumers of nearly 1,000%. Where a drug’s profit ratio is relatively small, it makes more sense (from the point of view of the criminally profiteering Pharma CEO, not from the point of view of the person who needs medication, of course) to simply let the shortages happen. 

Capital’s proposed solution: market based incentives and half-measure reforms

Since there is no way the capitalists can acknowledge that crises arise necessarily in the for-profit mode of production, they can’t offer a solution that will do anything but try to find a way to put more money in the capitalist’s pocket. 

Here is what the FDA’s Drug Shortage Task Force recommends as ”enduring solutions:

• Creating a shared understanding of the impact of drug shortages on patients and the contracting practices that may contribute to shortages;
• Developing a rating system to incentivize drug manufacturers to invest in quality management maturity for their facilities; and
• Promoting sustainable private sector contracts (e.g., with payers, purchasers, and group purchasing organizations) to make sure there is a reliable supply of medically important drugs.”

“Creating a shared understanding of drug impact shortages” is a nonstarter. Companies know what the impact is. They do not care. No amount of “understanding” can impact the need to place profits above all else. It is a company’s fiduciary responsibility to maximize profits. 

“Developing a rating system to incentivize… manufacturers” is nonsensical. The report suggests that more stringent scrutiny will somehow right the ship. Any measure to increase oversight and safety, which of course should be a priority, will only tighten the already narrow profit margins these companies are working with. 

What we have left is the real solution for the capitalist class: “Promoting sustainable private sector contracts.” What does this mean? Essentially, raising prices. Their solution to shortages of affordable life saving drugs is to raise the price. 

The real solution: fully socialized healthcare

The only true solution to the problem of drug shortages, one that does not rely on market Band-aids, is to move healthcare from a for-profit system to a for-need system, and the only way to do that is to fully socialize healthcare.

When will enough be enough? People are dying from lack of access to life saving drugs. Over 60% of bankruptcy filings in the U.S. Empire involve medical debt. Yet still, the idea of free healthcare for all is still treated as a radical political position in this country. The capitalists who rule us reject socialized healthcare. Why? Because they are, in turn, ruled by the profit motive. 

We need a system that is ruled not by the needs of the wealthy to produce profits, but the basic needs of all. It is only through a fundamental change to the mode of production that we can ever realize the equality and human dignity that we all deserve.

School is the singular place in American society where all manner of social reproduction is expected and taken for granted. Schools shelter, feed, and sometimes clothe their students. Educators are expected to assume the roles of teacher, mentor, counselor, and even friend and parent. Professionally, there are too many hats for one person to wear, boundaries that are pushed, and generally too many responsibilities for one person to bear. Tragically, it’s at the discretion of each individual educator as to how much they will give of themselves to their job.

Such is the case for nearly all aspects of education. How many school events will you volunteer your already scarce time and energy at? How will you configure your classroom furniture to be open and inviting to all students? How will you implement accommodations to keep vulnerable kids from falling through the cracks? How frequently are you contacting home? How often are you meeting one-on-one with your students? Are you advising a club? How are you conveying to your students that you are a safe person while not alerting the reactionary students and parents? Are you interrupting bigotry and implementing restorative practices?

The list of questions is endless, and all answers are ultimately for each individual teacher to decide. 

As more and more aspects of social life are privatized and made inaccessible to the poor, public schools have become a final bastion of public life that can help many families meet some of their most basic needs. But, of course, public schools are themselves under threat from privatization, with charter schools and traditional private schools in addition to a steady increase in homeschooling — all of which ultimately steal funds away from public schools. We are called to do more with less, and the demands and scarcity of resources are increasing daily.

This is not to mention the societal threats that plague our schools. American fascism in crisis has resulted in the constant barrage of attacks from the far-right against educators, championing a delusional conspiracy theory that educators are “grooming” their children and making them gay or “woke” (anti-racist) — or worse yet, both! These attacks are not only launched online; the threat of violence is all too real: angry mobs instigating fights, such as the incident in Glendale, California, where a teacher was put on leave for speaking out against transphobia at a School Board meeting; or school shooters whose manifestos clearly lay out their bigotry, such as the May 2, 2022 shooting at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas. Educators have lost their jobs, have been severely injured, or even been killed for their conviction to create a more just and equitable world.

Educators are exhausted. For our sacrifice to public service, we are called upon to give even more while the mass media demonizes us and our profession. The problem isn’t that educators care too much or that educators don’t actually believe in the social justice we try to implement in our classrooms — to the contrary! It is precisely because of our dedication to service, social justice, and the youth that so many of us chose this profession in the first place! But, it’s also the reason our deteriorating society can exploit us so. 

This is not to say we should abandon our shared beliefs and morals or our students’ and families’ needs. We would never abandon them. Educators deeply understand the enormous magnitude of the task that stands before us, and we know the necessity of taking on that challenge. So many of our students face struggles that could be easily solved with proper funding, and so, the “solutions” often presented are unsustainable and, regrettably, sometimes the only option available. At our lowest points, when we are overwhelmed by a system designed to work against us, this necessary task seems insurmountable. 

But we will not give in; we will not falter; and we will not cave to fascist reaction. We will win! The future we desire is within our grasp — we need only reach out and seize it. How will we achieve this victory? Only through a stalwart and unified labor movement — through our unions. The cure to the plague of fascist reaction is solidarity. We must unite and work together to achieve our goals!

Traditionally, most will think of the union simply as a negotiating body to get a better contract — an increase in pay. This is true, but a union can also accomplish so much more. We understand just how much work needs to be done inside our schools, but in order to begin that work in earnest, we need to relieve some of the pressure and return most of the social services our schools provide to the broader public sphere. Educators must fight for more than just a better contract for ourselves — solidarity is the key! 

We are not alone in this struggle. In the fight for educator needs and the welfare of the families we serve, we are also fighting for worker rights more broadly, as well as the rights of children. In linking our struggle with our fellow workers, we can win and create a more sustainable and democratic society in the process. For this, we can look at the history of the Chicago Teachers Union. Since the 19th century, educators in Chicago have organized and fought for the needs of the people. In his article, “A People’s History of the Chicago Teachers Union,” Rethinking Schools editor, Jesse Hagopian, illustrates the necessity of courageous and unswerving union organization. It is in this history of those who came before us, and those who carry on their legacy today, we can find not only the lessons of how to tackle the tasks at hand, but the strength to continue the struggle.

Learning from these examples, our immediate goals become more evident. Who stands with us? And who of those that are in opposition could become an ally? What can we do to support our community? To this question, there are infinite answers, but some examples: rallying against an anti-work bill, raising funds for an organization that helps the unhoused, collecting and distributing meals to families during the summer, rallying to support our worker-siblings who are on strike, etc. Our unions must unite the workers it represents and the families and communities we serve. 

Our struggles are all so deeply intertwined, and it is the process of atomization and alienation that created these horrible conditions we yearn to rid ourselves of. Only through solidarity and unity of action can we successfully fight back and win!
